Saddle Flaooza…… Aka Florida Saddle Hunter Meet up for 2025!!!

This is tempting every year. The 13 hour drive doesn’t bother me but, the vacation day I would need to take is one less day I get to spend chasing elk in CO. Although, It’s almost worth it this year to get away from this junk:

And you guys know we’d love to have yall down… regardless of what Weldabeast says lol

Oooffff... Now that is freaking cold. If you do come please leave that weather there!

This always sounds so tempting but about 21 hrs from me. Keep it going and if I and wife make it to retirement, I'd plan a long camp trip around this. Wife is always pushing to do more camping. Closest we've made it was to Asseteague Island in Maryland in late April but even that was a long trip- did not care for driving through NY & NJ. Saw a lot of Sitka deer though (besides the wild horses.)

Seems like we are building a bigger community maybe nearer PA that I would be able reach something like this. Anybody got the energy to figure that out NE coast??? Admit sounds like a ton of work & planning!

I think guys usually plan one in PA. I think @John RB is involved. This ends up being a little bigger than just a normal half day meet up. We wanted to make this as similar as possible to the old Saddle Palooza days and it’s sort of grown from there. We’ve been fortunate to have guys from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Georgia all come attend in years past, including the you tube guys like Matt from MadHunts adventures, Nathan from the Budget Sportsman, Mark & Danny from Swamp N Stomp, Hunter from Eastern Woods Jerry from Custom Gear Modifications, Van and the dudes from HangFree, and Peter from Florida Camo.I keep trying to get Benny from Buzzard and Jamie from Overwatch to come join us. Perhaps one year they can make it down to join us. @always89y was a huge hit with the Florida guys last year. I’m pretty sure that 2 or 3 guys from my work bought his carrying pack after seeing it in use at Flaooza. It’s honestly been an honor getting to help host such an event over the past 4 or 5 years.

It’s weird because as soon as season starts winding down in the different zones in Florida, I start getting tagged in Facebook posts asking if and when it’s happening.

I will say it’s been a lot of work getting all the behind the scenes stuff done, but getting to meet new guys while spreading the love of saddle hunting to new people, makes it worth it. Drinking around a campfire with @Weldabeast and the gang makes me second guess my decisions every year lol…..

Just got the tomahawk x in from legend saddle gear. They also sent one of their one stick gear pouches with it. It’s a nice looking saddle. Waiting on the new buzzard roost kit to arrive. I am getting pretty excited guys. We got the camping tote out this weekend and set up the hammocks and tarps so they are all aired out and ready. Bought a new screen house for the ticket booth and raffles…. Cool Beans BBq won an award for best BBQ in Florida this year too. Glad to see them getting props for the amazing food!!! However only 22 people have pre-registered. After February 5th, we shut down pre-registering guys so that we have time to have the event t-shirts all ordered. So if you haven’t yet, try to register. Or if you are planning on coming and paying at the door, DM me here with your name and t-shirt size. I don’t want anyone feeling left out…

Hey guys, just a friendly reminder to anyone interested, tomorrow 11:59pm is the cut off for pre-registration. If you register after tomorrow, I can still make sure you have food on Saturday and get to be in any event you want, however I cannot guarantee you an event shirt.

Updates also:

Pursuit Platform has pledged to send another platform or two of theirs. CGM will have a guy on site to showcase some more of @always89y ’s super cool gear and gadgets. The 2 Matthews bows were officially shipped out yesterday so I will have them on hand this weekend to upload some pics of them. Latitude and Trophyline have not replied with request for gear. Last time I spoke to the Southern Public Podcast guys, they said they were planning on coming and they rep Trophyline, so while I might not have any items to win from them, we will hopefully have some gear. Either way the new hyperlite platform will be there as I will be raffling off one of the ones I bought. Weldabeast has a sweet trophy for biggest hog in the hog hunt. In an unfortunate turn of events, Skull Hill Archery ended up putting on their Florida Archery Unlimited Tournament the same weekend as our event, so I am unsure now if they will still have some guys and gear there or not. This also kind of ruined talks of a saddle hunter archery 3D mini tournament that we wanted to put on Sunday…. And I have a few surprise items for the demo days as well….

There's enough space u don't have to socialize unless u want to. 20-50 peeps is the norm I would say. 5 or 10 give or take around the fire in the evening
10-4, I'm just being dramatic anyways. Be good to put faces to names to you guys on here at least.

We haven't decided if we're gonna camp or not.

How is lake george wma anyways? I've never been in there, heard its a tough hunt.

How many folks usually show up to this shindig? Got to mentally prepare myself for socializing.

Also, on the raffles, how many hundreds of dollars should I bring to donate?
Correction to Weldabeast’s estimate. The first year 32 people came out and only 14 camped. Year 2 I believe it was 81 people attended and roughly 46 camped out with us. Last year was ugly weather. We had a little over 50 attendees but 40 people camped out all weekend. This year only 35 people (exact same number of pre-registering as last year) have preregistered. Not sure how many will actually end up attending or camping. The weather is currently predicted to be in the mid to upper 70’s and high 50’s at night and the rain is supposed to be gone Wednesday or Thursday so we should have a sunny and beautiful meet up if weather “experts” are right

Lake George is a beautiful WMA. And it’s not a particularly tough hunt because of the cleared horse trails. The camp grounds are beautiful and pretty spacious. You’ll be in good company as we have a loyal group of gentlemen that attend every year including Weldabeast, myself, @RookieJD, @ScottL, JayBo, Nate, Mike D, Cutty, Fred and several others. Plus Mark rom Swamp N Stomp is coming up again this year. Last time he and Danny came out, we ended up having to build 2 separate fires so that everyone could sit around and exchange stories. I know Hunter is coming down from Michigan… that’s awesome. I am kinda bummed this year though because I don’t think we will have Mr @GeoFish in attendance… I always enjoy catching up with him

Also the raffle’s are pretty fairly priced. $5 per ticket for the general raffles, $10 per ticket for things like the premium saddles and platforms. This year we are gonna have a special $20 raffle for the 2 Matthews bows. One of those bows has a $900+ price tag and the other has a $1200+ price tag

Sounds good. I have the type of luck that when I buy a scratch off, they send me a bill in the mail later, so I always just consider it a charitable donation to a good cause.

Thanks for thinking of me.
Sorry I cant come this year. My wife had eye surgery and I did not want to do a long trip until her recovery is complete.
Maybe next year.
