Saddle hunters support thread.

You did good. IMO an EDP is the best balance of size, weight, cost and it locks down solid. I don’t know why it doesn’t get more love.
The Klemz was the OG and it still my go to, especially since I use it for the one stick method. After all these years and all these fancy platforms. Things havn't change that much.

I say years....wow saddle hunting only got popular for less then a decade!

I broke down about an hour ago and ordered an EDP.

I like my EDP enough that I have not felt the need to confess my sins for coveting other peoples platforms on the "SUPPORT" thread. Would I like something half the weight and a little longer sure, I would also like world peace and life of with pay.

The proliferation of the goofy shaped platforms was the official end of peak saddle hunting era. That's when the evolution of function shifted to facebook style vanity.

That and all the zany rope access methods that are fun for rec tree climbing, but useless for hunting.

I loved my EDP, but not nearly as much as I love my LWCG Fix.

I’m genuinely curious why? It’s 4oz lighter but at least an inch smaller in both directions and more expensive. The EDP has always been rock solid and easy to set for me. What makes the fix better in your eyes? Flatter packing?

I had the EDP and its bigger cousin. I just couldn’t deal with the post when folded. The Fix folds much flatter, I don’t notice any difference in space and it bites incredibly hard. I also didn’t really think the tab to hang it from molle on my saddle was really going to be a big deal but it makes it super convenient.

The Fix was on my short list, but ultimately decided on the EDP. I kept reading comments about the fix being a pain to lock down, and the EDP seemed a good compromise between weight and size.

It’s just technique, you have to lift up and cam down similar to a OOAL platform. I personally use a USA amsteel strap and I just cinch it tight with the platform mostly open and then finish opening it the last few inches and it’s like I bolted it to the tree.

Hers a thought for weight, what if you make like heavy steel versions of platform or sticks and have a weighted saddle and practice with that, that way when season comes the normal stuff feels like air lol
We will have none of that rational thought here Mister. Spending money is the only way to be more effective and kill bigger deer.

That's pretty awesome if it's a ladder stand. My uncle carries an umbrella with his climber that's designed to go around the tree somehow.

Well, since this is the support thread I feel obligated to tell you that those tree umbrellas work really well in a saddle also. The one I have is linked below for your purchase convenience.
