Sewing Machine Deals for the DIY Guys

Anybody know anything about this? Having a hard time with this thread since everything seems to be listed north of the Mason Dixon.

I will pretty much always defer to @bj139 on the domestic machines.

The machines are mostly where the textile manufacturing businesses were, so while I do scan much of the country for deals once a week or so, they're harder to come by in your part of the country!

Yep, that's the one. Where does the 319W come from? Cat no. on the machine says BA 3-8

That's just the catalog number for the motor. I can just tell based on the features and appearance. Here are a couple videos featuring them:

That looks sweet! Seems like a decent price considering it includes the table, right?

Yeah, definitely test it out and make sure it's functioning properly first. If the motor is weak, they can be disassembled and refurbished, or replaced cheaply.

Got some more pics from the White machine

I don't know anything about Whites sewing machines.

Would you choose the singer or the kenmore from the previous page?
The Singer does not use a 15x1 needle so these would not be as available as if it did. I don't have a Singer 319w. I do not know anything about the Kenmore machine but I have heard they are good. If it weighs 30 lbs or more it is probably good because of enough metal usage.

Man I'm completely new to the sewing game, you're saying needles might be hard to find for this singer in particular?

You can't just go to Joann's fabric store and buy these needles but a quick search found this. Larger size needles like size 18 or size 20 would be needed for heavy thread like size V69 or V92. I searched a bit and did not see this size.

Here's a good writeup on the machine and needle situation.
