One of the bucks I was chasing found dead. Thought he was a great 3 1/2 year old that I was really hoping he make it one more year. Last day I saw him was October 30. My guess he got shot around early November. IMG_20230201_095709_01.jpgIMG_20230202_111808.jpg

Some nice finds. A suggestion to post the state with your finds to give others better idea of what areas are dropping. Just a nice to know.

Spent ~6hrs between last Saturday and Sunday came up empty handed. Starting to think the 3 i picked up in Dec was first time out luck and prob still early yet where I am. Finding concentrations of bedding, tracks sign but no bone.

I've got 30+ miles logged scouting since February 1st and have only found 1 old one so far. Most are still holding here now, but that won't be the case for much longer. I'll really start looking for them in about a week.

On January 31st I was in a tree, watching a bachelor group of 3 bucks. The biggest one, a 3.5+ year old 6 point, wanted his antlers off, bad. He kept violently shaking his head, pushing his antlers into his own body, and trying to coax the other bucks into sparring with him. I thought for sure I was going to watch his antlers fall off his head, but he walked out of sight with both of them still attached.

I killed this buck Nov 3 and just recently found his shed from last year about 1/4 mile away. Also found a nice matched set of a buck I hope to hunt next year.

Had a similar thing happen last year. When we were trailing the buck I shot last year, we picked up a shed in the blood trail from the previous year. When we found my buck, we realized it was from the same deer.

For whatever reason the site won’t let me upload pics right now, but I’m in PA, I took the kids pit shed hunting yesterday and we pulled a camera card, all the bucks are still holding antlers. I saw the one I didn’t get this year and a bruiser I hadn’t seen before

Did your hunting area have acorns this year?

Put in ~7 hrs last couple days with nothing to show but this coyote skull today. About 250yds from where I winged one with an arrow last year but never found. Saw another coyote 75yds from the skull. Going to give it a couple more weeks before I set out again.
