Simple tweak made my Tethrd Mantis more comfortable

I have a Tethrd Mantis size Large and since I first started using it a few months ago, I always felt like the bottom of the saddle would ride up and not be that comfortable.

I was putting the waist belt low and hooking the leg loops to the attachment points on my waist belt like I saw Greg do in the Mantis Saddle setup and directions video on the Tethrd website like this:

But even so, when I was in a tree, I found myself constantly readjusting by pulling at the bottom of the saddle, so I could get more support under my butt and the seat of my legs:

Then not too long ago, I was on Youtube watching this Matins vs Kestrel Flex video from the NY Saddle Hunter channel:

And at the 6:20 mark he started talking about how he hooks the leg loops to the attachment points at the bottom of the saddle itself:

I decided to give it a shot and holy cow I felt like a dummy for not trying this sooner. The comfort level and support went up tenfold!

Now when I sit or lean back in my saddle the bottom of it isn’t riding up anymore and I feel way more comfortable up in a tree. You may be able to see the difference in the pics below in which the saddle isn’t scrunched or riding up like in my other screenshot above:

If you’re feeling like your Mantis could be more comfortable, try putting the leg loops at the bottom of the saddle and that just may be the fix you need.

Side note: Since making this change, I also feel much more comfortable and supported when going up and down while one-sticking

I think I may start doing that to save time. I've been packing it in and then putting it on once i get to my tree

Huh...I may have to give that a try! I wear mine in every time and have forgotten it was on a few times back at the vehicle. Hard to get hunting pants off when my saddle is on!

Dumb question here - those are what those loops are made for correct? So there is no safety concern with not being hooked into the main waist belt? It doesn’t seem like there would be.

I’ve had the same issues as you’ve described with the saddle riding up. So I plan on trying this!

@Bach55 not a dumb question at all.

Yep those bottom attachment points are meant for the leg loops (or the microadjusters if you have them).

It's mentioned in the Mantis saddle setup video by Tethrd it's just not shown. Also as far as safety, Tethrd says all the safety is in the waistbelt itself and the leg loops weren't designed for safety standards. According to them, you could not wear the leg straps at all and still be just as safe than if you did.
