"SITTER" or a "LEANER"

99% sitting until the deer show up...

If I switch to a leaning position, I inevitably find myself swaying back and forth. It's hard to "sit still" if I'm not actually sitting...

Can someone explain to me why you lean? I honestly don't understand. I sit in my saddle because my butt is made for sitting. I only use the steps around the tree to move myself around the tree or to offer a brief position change. I may lean when I'm getting into position for a shot but I can also shoot from sitting if the shot is directly to my strong side. I've seen a couple comments on why people lean that I don't understand. I don't feel that I'm anymore ready if I'm leaning than if I'm sitting.
I like to shoot from a more standing upright position. When I sit I feel like my bridge is too close to my chest and interferes with my bow string. Especially on my recurve. If I'm going to sit I still have to stand for the shot. So in that sense I do feel like I'm more ready. I also detest wearing knee pads. To sit comfortably in my opinion you need to wear something on your knees or put a pad on the tree. That's just more crap I got to drag with me. I'm perfectly comfortable leaning for just about the entire day. I will occasionally sit or shift weight to give my feet a little bit of a break. 10 hours in the tree maybe one hour I spend with no weight on my feet. If a hunted off of a ring of steps I would want to sit much more than I do.

Agree. Pretty much my feelings on every point.

Leaner 90% of the time. I’ll still wear knee pads and sit for a few minutes here and there just to spice things up. Leaning feels more intuitive to me.

Sit vs lean is a false dichotomy. I squat!

Seriously, I'm kinda stuck in an in-between situation where my feet, knees, and Heineken are all more or less evenly splitting the pressure. About a chin or neck-high tether. I hardly ever adjust my tether length in this position, and can sit comfortably all day this way.

Before I sat, and was fine for short sits. But an all day hunt would make my lower back sore.

I was really thinking of how to explain this you nailed it I also do not adjust my tether once set up but when I stand up right at the moment of truth I will tighten up my bridge seems to help me for a better shot

Two saddle hunts in the books. I thought I'd be a leaner, found myself sitting for the first hour, and started leaning again. I guess I'm about 80/20 lean to sit. It feels better.

For the leaners, do you find yourself swayingfrom side to side (ever so slightly)? If my mind wanders, I find myself swaying...

Yea, that's one of the reasons I sit with my knees to the tree. When I'm leaning I do tend to sway back and forth slightly. Relistically its probably not enough to be noticed but I'm definitely self-conscious about it.

I do the same but I still can shoot sitting toward my left side. I am right handed.

You guys are too bashful, fine. I'll start the ball rolling.

Why, he's nothing but skin and bones.

I leaned on the railing to the bridge in my home town for so long, hanging out, when I was younger, it just feels right. You know, kicking back, feet crossed, just watching the cars go by.

I always appreciate repeat customers!
Thanks @Apex7

If any of you guys want an awesome shirt or hat you need to get each one of these. This will be my fourth shirt along with a hoodie and hat and I couldn't be happier with them all. Keep up the great work Jeff.

After hunting all year, idk if i've leaned 15 minutes total. I may need to try it out there.

What is the average diameter you guys climb? Are you hunting something skinny enough that it goes between your legs? Or are you hunting a tree that you put your knees on?
