So what will you be carrying for the firearms deer season this year?

This year I am going to use my Savage Axis II in 7mm08. I’ve owned it for about 5 years now but never took it hunting. The 7mm08 looks like an excellent round and despite being a cheap rifle my Savage Axis II is incredibly accurate and comfortable to shoot. I’ll also be using my Win 94 trapper carbine in 30-30. I’ve had it since I was 9 and took my first buck and doe with it. It’s never failed me. I’ve been using my Rem 700 .243 the past couple years which I love but I figured it’s time to put my 7mm08 to the test.

CVA Accura V2 muzzleloader and Ruger American 450 Bushmaster. Got the 450 last season but never got a chance to shoot any deer with it.

I am hoping to be carrying a mug of coffee but not until after 10am after a night of bourbon and cards because I would have already tagged out in archery season with my new longbow…

But if not, it will be a fierce rifle in a 6.5 creedmoor In my right hand and a mug of coffee coffee in the left from a long night of cards and a little less bourbon than planned if I still have a tag in my pocket.

My new toy... Savage 110 Ultralight with Athlon Ares 3-18 glass in 6.5 CM.
Otherwise, my tried and true Remi 700 in 7mm mag.
Remi 700ML in 54cal
Carry a glock 20 w/ 6"slide in a chest rig, just haven't gotten to pull the trigger there yet (pun intended).

1948 Winchester Model 70 30-06

Only deer gun I have. I dont plan to buy anything else as I believe ammo will be gone/unavailable within my life time. It has already become unaffordable if not unobtainable.

I’ll be carrying either:

Remington 700 in 308 win
Vortex diamondback 3.5-10x50

Ruger American Ranch 350 legend
Vortex diamondback 4-12x42

I didn't draw a gun hunt for deers but if I get a opportunity I taking an AR 350legend. Last couple years some of the wma local to me are allowing center-fire during small game season....so as of right now there's just hog blasting on the schedual....

Mathews compound or black widow recurve. My 7-year-old will hunt with his moms Ruger compact .243 this year.

Post a picture of the Black Widow, please!
I hunt compound but I want to start traditional, after this season. My hunting mentors let me shoot their traditional bows at the camp site last season and it was awesome. One of them just picked up a black widow but I haven't seen or held it in person, yet. Good luck this season and especially to your son!!! Seems like My 3 little hunting buddies were just that age instead of 28, 26 and 22 years old.... Enjoy every minute you have whim him!!!

My first gun purchase was a Remington 700 in 308 and a British 303 infield rifle both for $125 in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot where I worked as a sixteen year old. It was my own money and I was so proud of it then and it is still my favorite gun 37 years later.

the 700 and I have had a history. Im an adult onset Hunter and have 5 seasons I didn’t even get my first deer (a doe) until season 4 during my first bow season. Last season (5) I was able to take another doe with my bow. I also shot my first Buck last season with my uncles 7MM REM Mag. There’s a whole lot of stories and close encounters in there including the way I got my buck last year. But I’m hoping this is the year I get to do it with my own rifle. Specifically the 308.
