Switching from Scentlok to Sitka

Scentlok baselayers suck. They fit terrible. The trek baselayers are nice material but the fit is awful. The tops are short almost a damn belly shirt and the bottoms might fit you well if your 400lbs and 4’-6” tall.

If you want merino I highly recommend minus33. If you want synthetic the Sitka heavyweight are good. I have the Thlete H1 baselayers. I use them as a mid layer and they are amazing.

The saddle suit has some issues. After some use the Windproof membrane separates and binds up in the arms or something. It also fits odd in the pelvic area.

Early season Sitka equinox guard set is my favorite.

Late season I think the scentlok fortress is just as warm if not warmer than the Sitka fanatic.

Mid season I am currently searching. I used the old forest stratus for years then switched to the EVII stratus and used that for years. I kinda regret selling those peices. The scentlok voyage is great until the wind starts blowing. Then you freeze. I have the paradigm but it seems pretty loud in the cold. It’s also thin and your really need to layer under it.

what is cold for you? What state are you talking about?

Yeah, if the Scentlok baselayers suck, and OP wants the scent control benefits of Scentlok, I guess that’s pretty limiting.

Scentlok used to make the green liner pants and top. They worked good, imo, but added another layer. I have some of their old base-slayers as well and they fit ok. Ran maybe slightly small.

I’ve been hiking in thin merino and T and swapping into Sitka Core HWT and that works best for me.

If Sitka still made the Stratus the same as the EV1 model, I’d be more glowing about that coat. I like the old fanatic jacket better as well. Too bad they changed the build. Both camos are too blue.
Hard to beat subalpine. It’s great for turkey too.

Don't think you're going to beat Sitkas quality. Blew my mind the first time I got my hands on their gear. Top notch. That being said, I don't wear the tops much while walking around because I'd sweat my butt off. It doesn't matter if it's -10, if I'm wearing more than 1 baselayer up top while walking, I'm going to sweat, and then be cold on stand. I've gone through all kinds of briars and thick stuff while wearing my equinox and stratus bottoms though and have never had a concern about getting a hole. My merino tops have plenty of holes. Plus, if you did happen to get one, their CS will take care of you.

I too feel sitka is top of the pack for outer layers. I use the kuiu peloton base layer top no matter the temp. It often gets soaked with sweat well before I get on stand and it still dries insanely fast. It hates water. I only wear bottom base layers if it's under 35 out, in which case I use the kuiu fleece 290s.

The only midlayer I use is the fl source. It comes with me virtually every hunt. Love it.

From 60-40 I use the Stratus jacket with the FL uncompagre pants. I only put the pants on once I get on stand. They're extremely delicate. I always wear sitka equinox pants as a base in these temps as well.
40-30 is the same stratus jacket, then source jacket, 290 base layers, and Stratus bibs.

Under 30 is the fanatic jacket, source jacket, and fanatic bibs. I just bought the incinerator bibs for next year because the bulk of the fanatic bib sucks for mobile hunting. I'm not selling the fanatic bibs till the incinerators get more use. The incinerator bib is scary thin. There is no way they're warmer than the fanatics are. My brother has the original incinerator bib, and his is double if not triple the thickness of the new ones. Jury's still out on these.

I don't like FLs outer layers. The catalyst set is completely useless without a wind stopper membrane. Trash.
I had the Solitude set before it got a windblocking membrane and man I froze in it. But I still wouldn't buy it with the wind blocked because I couldn't stand the high collar and tighter sleeves.

The Kuiu proximity set positively BLOWS. I froze in just 38 degree weather with my set on this year. The tight cuffs suck for layering. It picks up a million burrs. And worst of all is how delicate it is. I had two jackets come apart at the seam from them. And after the second time they gave me store credit thankfully. The pants tore on me at the knee and I was told too bad my fault. I left a negative review for the set and kuiu never posted it. Looking at how overwhelmingly positive reviews are for the set has me thinking kuiu filters alot of negative reviews out.

So for late season do would you buy the finatic over the incinerators? I wonder why they say the incinerators are warmer?

The incinerator is def warmer
I wasn’t a huge fan of the fanatic (really liked the fanatic lite tho) the stratus jacket and bibs are awesome. But def need to layer come late season.

I’ve since switched my system to sleeping Indian wools and am very happy.

I would not under any circumstances wear the Incinerator top for bow hunting. Way to loud and I think the Fanatic is better designed with the builtin muff. The Incinerator bibs pack down way better than the Fanatic bibs but the jury is still out on warmth

The incinerator is definitely warmer than the fanatic. After several washes the incinerator gets quieter. Still not as quiet as the fanatic but not nearly as loud. I was using fanatic jacket paired with incinerator bibs for a couple years.

I thought you said you had Gen 1 Incinerator? I'm talking about the aerolite

Oh …. Yea I don’t know about that one.
Ya gen 1 is thick, poofy and def warmer than the Fanatic. The aerolite which I just bought is tissue thin. I've heard from several people and forums that the Aerolite isn't nearly as warm as gen 1 was. I hope it is because it packs down so good.

I’m not sure if ScentLok is still making the Wind Brace line but I grabbed a set of that about this time last year… this year I found it to be an awesome mid season shell with baselayers appropriate to the temp. I did a sit at 40 with decent rain and I was great. In dry conditions I sat in the 30s and was good too. No complaints yet, pretty quiet too.
