TAC Events- Recommend or Not???

FYI... I signed up yesterday for VT. Registration opened at 11 and by 11:45 the spots were VERY limited especially for a small group. A couple buddies tried signing up for BRCC on Saturday and it was completely sold out. New sign up structure this year and seemed to fill up very fast!
Did you sign up for the whole weekend yesterday? We plan on doing the locals course first on Saturday morning, as early as possible then one of the more aggressive ones later that day like Prime. So maybe like 8am for the first and 12:30pm for the second????

Sounds like a great plan but our original group tried to do almost the exact same thing but unfortunately we were not able to all get the same Tee times. We had 8 people (2 groups of 4) but it turned into several pairs all throughout the day. Saturday was almost completely sold out with only 4 of us now shooting on Saturday. Get “in line” early if you want to shoot earlier.

What’s the earliest nock time? And are you saying it’s better not to go too early?

8 am is the earliest start time. Similarly we were trying to start as early as possible so we could do 2 courses in 1 day. I’m fine with shooting a little later because I think the big rush will spread out by noon. I just won’t be able to shoot with all of my homies. It definitely filled up much faster this year than past years.

Thanks for the heads up and all of your guidance… much appreciated. Today is the day!!!

I looked over the TAC website and it does not look user friendly to traditional archers. At least there's no mention of a maximum distance for traditional archers. The shortest course was 15-60 yards, but they do mention that you're allowed to "move up" if you don't feel comfortable with the yardage. :)

I don't like the actual kill area having any kind of debris in it. I wouldn't dream of taking the shot on the bear photo on the course and that goes double for an actual hunt. Sounds like I'd have to pass on shooting a number of targets that are setup for nothing more than damaged arrows. o_O An entry fee that would be better spent on a R100 event. At least, the kill sections of their targets are open.

LAS did a great video on shooting TAC and it appears that you can shoot anywhere within the cones they put out for each shot station so you’re allowed to move up if you like.

So is this event organized at all? Sounds like a free for all. What’s the point in registration if you can’t reserve a time slot? If I go with a group of 4 are we gonna get split up? I wanna go but you guys are deterring me a bit haha

Organized chaos

Think @woodsdog2 is shooting Saturday & im gonna shoot Friday with a couple guys. I don’t think there’s anyway to try & coordinate nock times. I say just everyone post what they got & see what works for anyone looking to meet up or hit the course close to the same times…..

For those that have been to an event, is it like golf where you can let a group play through? Just thinking if you were only 1 or maybe 2 spots off could you end up shooting with your buddy? Or is it busy golfing where you gotta play at pace period.

You have to reserve time slots but everyone in your group would have to reserve the same time. There is only 15 spots per time slot and it can fill up fast.

You can definitely let a group play through. There are often small groups, pairs and singles that obviously go faster than the larger groups and we let them pass us so we don't feel rushed or end up with an audience.

Any of you guys know can you register multiple people or is it all individually & then each has to pick same slot??

You can do multiple people just make sure you have all of their basic info...email, DOB, name, address ,phone number, etc.

Having the same thoughts. Thinking of doing the PA event. But not sure I want to sign up as a loner and get paired up with people that would take it too serious when I'm a first time attendee.

4 dozen arrows can't be a serious number is it?!

Anyone considering PA?

Depending on the dates I could make it happen, I’d it still up near Haley on this year? I have a cabin up there.
