Talk me out of a climber....

If it’s about climbing and you’re only trying to use the bottom then I would highly suggest considered 2TC if relatively fit. No metal noise, takes up no space walking in, faster than a climber, and does the same thing.

Not going to try to talk you into a climber because I'll never use my climbers again. But I think you already gave yourself and us the main reason why you should use a climber. You said it was the most comfortable tool for you in the tree. That's basically 90% of the important aspect that you want and what you are going to be doing 90% of the time hunting. If you really think the climber is the most comfortable, the walk in and climbing drawback can be tolerated. Basically don't forsake the woodlands for the tree, literally. The walk in and the climbing is focused on the tree you are going to be using, but the comfort for those long sit in the wood to hunt should always be the main priority.

Oh wait I'm sorry, I'm wrong, SAFETY is the most important, if you can climb using the climber safely, then I say go with the tool that bring you the most comfort.

Not saying it is a great idea, but I removed the seat bar on my open shot and made it where I can lean back to the tree. Makes the seat part so light that you will have to strap it when at height, which is not a big deal, works great and I still use a saddle. Still weights 14.5 pounds.

Yeah I'm considering this alternative also!

Spot on!

Thanks

Dig a little, you'll find stuff like:

Clarify something for me so some of these responses can get on track with what you’re asking…..you’re talking about using some other climbing method to get to height and then setting the Summit bottom as a platform, yes or no?

That’s the way I was answering, but I will add that using a saddle, tether and API bottom was the absolute worst way into climb that I have ever tried. Ever. Not even close.

Essentially yes and no. No, using the lower climbing section coupled with a saddle and tether as the upper all used to get to height.

Yes, your second statement is what I'm considering, and assessing based people's first hand experiences.

Thanks!!!

Cool. Yeah I found the climb to be inefficient and loud. There is a time and place for a big platform like that though and that is when you’re in some nasty thick cover where your shots could a) be any direction and b) be real close. The large platform allows you to turn ANY direction with ease, even standing independently of your tether if need be.

Dunno. I use everything - tree saddle, pac seat and xstand. Every situation is different. I would say if it makes you happy go for it. If you get it and don't like it find it a new home.
