TEAM 1 THREAD

Oh man super pumped for you! Nice exit. Prob didn’t run much more than 70 huh
Thanks. You’re right he didn’t make it 70, probably about 50. Second deer I’ve shot with the grizz tricks and both dead inside 50. Hard to object to the results but next to no blood had me concerned for a minute or so.

Congrats @bloodsoakedberber! Can’t get the pics To completely load at camp but what I could see looks like a nice one.

It’s been a rough four days of my pre-rutcation. Saturday was the end of bear season and there was way more bear hunters in here than I have seen in the past. Including two who camped out in my favorite rut honey hole for 6 days straight. They killed the deer movement. Tomorrow’s the last morning, then I’ll be limited to short Saturday morning hunts until December.

Was all set up by 6:15. About 15 yards from that camera. I’m about 25 yards from the tree I shot the buck in my picture from on this day in 2019. Fourth season hunting this area and I’ve finally figured out a way to cover more shooting lanes. I’m planning on moving about 50 yards south in the afternoon, putting myself between all those rubs I found Sunday and active scrape.

I saw an 8 point about 15 minutes ago crossing the hill below me headed south. Looked like a deer I got a picture of a few nights ago. Watching that deer gave me a general idea of where I need to set up on the ridge to catch them moving from above and below me.

Bullet inflation is a booger. Getting tuned up for an early (for Alabama) gun hunt at the end of next week. Leaving a few days early so I can scout with my bow for a few days. Deer density there is not great, but if I can lay eyes on one I think it’ll be worth the trip.

Ended up seeing that same 8 pointer come out the same path he went in on shortly after 5 pm and then back down the hill the way he came from. I moved too far south. I may go back to that area on Tuesday when they’re calling for a south wind. If I do I figured out where I need to be on my walk out. Was a long day, time to wrestle some kids into bed.

There are days I wish we were a 2 buck state. I get excitement just hearing about everyone else’s stories!

Finally saw some interest in does this morning. I was watching a doe below me when one came out above me. As she moved across the top of the ridge and worked her way down an 8 point crashed out of the thick stuff and just stood there staring. He moved around them for 20 minutes before following one of them across below me. A little bit ago I noticed him moving back up to the top of the ridge and then I saw the doe already there. She’s currently eating some branches about 60 yards to my north and I’d imagine he’s not far from her. He gave me a perfect 25 yard quartering away shot as he followed her off but it was 8 am and I’m not ready to be tagged out.

Got out for about 1.5 hours last evening. Beautiful views. Scouted my way in to a location I am familiar with. Found a lot of decent sign but zero deer. Tough time to hunt when your tagged out and just looking for a lonely doe to walk by. But these pictures is really why I decided to go.

The chase continues. They moved from my left out in front of me back into the thick stuff the buck showed up from initially. She’s in no hurry and he’s not letting her get too far away.

Officially lost count of the deer. All I know is I’ve seen four 8’s and a spike. The does are moving in circles out in front of me but I’ve seen probably ten separate does. At one point a group of three moved to my right with two over to my left. They’re all within 100 yards just killing about inside the cover. Pretty incredible. I’ve only been hunting since 2016 but this is easily my best morning in the woods.
