Yea
Looks like I'll have another Sunday on base.... I give it 100%...at least u guys have brought us up from last.... I'm trying to help contribute.. south sw winds and gonna be hot
you’re looking at 79 degrees, 15mph winds with 50% chance of heavy thunderstorms afternoon lol it stinks because this week it looks like Monday or Tuesday would be the best days to hunt cause the “cold front”.

It's my day to go so I make the best out of it....the deers are out there 24hr...365
Oh I wasn’t trying to discourage you from going. Like you I go whenever I can. I just wish the weather would be like it’s supposed to be Monday afternoon or Tuesday tomorrow, I think it would up your chance of success. I’m trying to convince the misses to let me go but she’s in full blown get Christmas shopping/decorations mode right now lol

I couldn't hunt this morning. The wife drew the line on me missing my daughter's college graduation ceremony to go hunting. On the plus side, I'm done writing checks for college.

To be completely honest I wouldn't have missed it for the world and found that even a gruff of guy like me found I can still get a bit choked up. I'm very proud of her.

Family first!!! Super excited for her (and your wallet lol) there will always be other deer your kids only have those shinning moments once so I wouldn’t have missed it either!

I had a south wind this morning and went in on the north side of a block of woods and walked to some points of interest based on the aerial photos...I found a little flag pond with decent trails and some rubs and found some nice deer runs but also found some tree stands. The wind switched west around 10-11 so I went back to the truck and drove over to the eastern side. I found decent sign but more tree stands. Around 3 i walked by this big open field and way over on the other side I saw 2 deer. I kept walking and they watched and then went into the woods. I made note of where they went in and kept scouting around. I found an area that had the best looking sign I'd seen all day and was half way up the tree I had picked when it started raining....light at first then it really started coming down..I went to a ground blind I had seen and set up camp waiting for the rain to let up...once it did blow thru I had about 45 minutes of light left and I wasnt wanting to sit in that blind anymore so I figured I'd book it over to that field and set up on the ground in range of where I saw the deer go into the woods earlier... I walked/jogged and when I got around the corner to the field there were 3 deer already standing in the center of it..dang..15-20 minutes earlier...anyway, I stood there looking at them and them at me with maybe 150yds between us... And I said f-it.. Nocked an arrow and slowly but deliberately started walking towards them....1 of them bolted right away but the other 2 just stood there. 100,80,70...still standing there...I didn't want to make any extra arm type movements so I didn't try to range...I just slowly and steady walking towards them...I got to what I guessed to be 55 and drew and fired....and I shot about a foot low and the 2 deer take a couple bounds....I keep walking at them and they half hearted trot a little ways and watch me...I get up to my 1st arrow and I'm just about to try another when they had enough and left for good....I broke my own rule of 30yd and under shots...it was fun either way

Well the outcome was not desired
But it sounds like it was a fun interaction
At least it was a clean miss

I’ll be out there on Sunday and possibly next Monday. (I’m still torn between blanding and Sante Fe swamp for Monday)

Had a chance to sneak out yesterday for the last 90 minutes of light. had 2 does and a small buck stay just out of range .... I will be back out today to see what happens.
Here in NY usually this is the last day for the year but they added the week between Christmas and New years. I will try to get out that week too.

Ok...so I'm heading to the base in the morning. 3 hunts ago while there I watched a buck come out of the swamp and a couple does followed the same path a short while later... The plan is to be elevated within bow range of where I saw them and sit for the morning...after the morning sit I'll go to 1 of the blocks of woods I haven't been in yet this season and go check it out...there is a total of 6 different blocks and I've been in 3 so far... Right now the weather looks good with cooler breeze and no rain. All my stuff is dry from last weekends downpour and I got it all reorganized last night. Just gotta spray a set of clothes with permethrine and shoot my arrows to verify the lighted nocks survived the water tonight and I'm ready

Good luck. We've got a fresh couple of inches of snow here this morning. I'm hoping I can slide out a bit early and get the last hour or so of light.

I'm planning on taking more time off between Christmas and New Years so hopefully I can get a meat doe down. Last day for us is Jan. 1st so I've got to get in a tree while I can.

Good luck y'all. I just finished a major project (couldn't hunt at all the last 2 weeks) but am off this whole week. Gonna be out every afternoon to try to fill my last buck tag and get us some more points.
