Team 10 Thread

Makes it easy to follow all those deer tracks. Y’all cheat.
I didn't hunt yet....but when I lived in Tennessee and hiked all the time and all my various 4wheeling trips to Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, etc I've walked lots of miles in the Appalachian mountains and I would take a 5 mile hike in the steep mountains before a 5 mile hike in sugar sand

Agree fully

The 4.5 hour sit tonight in 35 deg weather has me questioning that but, I'll take the cold over the skeeters any day. :tearsofjoy:
I totally agree.

I sat in a spot today where I found 3 scrapes and a fresh rub as well as several older rubs. Couldn’t find a tree to climb that would give me any shooting lanes so I created a make shift ground blind with limbs and leaves. Hung my teather at ground height and got set up in my dryad Drey and dam near fell asleep. 30 minutes later I am awoken by a twig snap and open my eyes to see a huge doe 10 yards from me. Wind is perfectly in my favor so she is relaxed. She’s about to give me a perfect broadside shot and then all of a sudden she beelines towards me. Head on giving me no shots. She finally catches my wind as I could almost touch her and bounds off blowing over and over and over again seemingly clearing out the whole area for me.

It was 2:30 pm and I had just parked and was only 1/4 mile or so into the WMA when I heard grunting and sticks breaking. 10 seconds later doe comes screaming by about 30 yards followed by a really nice looking 8 point and a spike running behind him. I just hunkered down where I was to see if I could get a shot. They ran back and forth for 15 minutes until finally the doe led them off out of my viewing distance. Was interesting though, the spike stopped to work a scrape before they left. The larger buck didn’t care about the scrape he was only concerned about the doe. Chasing is definitely occurring! Took a shot at a buck and hit a tree instead. And no I could not get my broadhead out. If it was 2 days later and I had my muzzleloader their would be a dead buck tonight.

Guess I’ve basically been designated to deer processor for wife and kids. Wife and daughter have killed a doe each.

Rut is coming though…seeing lots of fresh scrapes and rubs throughout forest. Thinking the big boys are ready and just waiting for the girls to turn it on.

I’ll be back at em this weekend and then from the 20th to the 28th!

Well after a 12 hour sit yesterday for a reduction hunt
And not seeing anything
I’m leaning towards I’m just a bad hunter

There’s a lot of season left that’s for sure. I think we can do it boys. I excel at early archery cuz my job allows for a ton of quick weekday hunts in the evenings and no one else seems to be in the public woods yet cuz of ticks and mosquitoes and snakes. I actually have a harder time during the rut cuz now I am sharing the woods with thousands of orange vests. I got skunked opening weekend of muzzleloader. Only saw a few deer, no shots. Once first week of December rolls around it calms way down again.

I hit a nice 8 last night. Unfortunately no recovery. We waited about 2 hours before starting the track and backed out after the first 200yds when he wasnt immediately down. I went back in this morning and tracked it right to the edge of a piece of private where I had to stop. I have some history with this property owner asking permission to track several years before (he politely asked me to get out of his driveway while casually holding a pistol). Shame too because I managed to capture the whole thing on video. Only thing missing is the important part.
I'm having a rough year, one clean miss, one no recovery and two nice shooters inside 25 yds with no shot opportunities. Trying not to let it get me down though. I have to take tonight off to close on the sale of a house (rescheduled from this morning since I otherwise occupied) and the I'll be back at tomorrow morning. Good luck guys!

Holy crap that is heart breaking! You sound like a resilient guy so I believe you will respond in kind. At least congrats on selling a house is in order.

Got a nice 5x5 today here in Ohio. Been a rough year trying to hunt and work on my house to sell. He has a split brow so good for 16 points. Good luck Team
