Team 10

I hiked miles and miles of nf bear hunting past weekend. Saw tons of good deer sign. Not so much for bear!
A friend of mine missed a bear, but other than that, I haven’t heard of a lot of people connecting on bruins this year.

Saw one guy that did on public first thing opening morning. He said was raining white oak acorns. I have a found a few acorns, but not many and no muscadine with fruit on it. But I'm here on public land in AR also.

Here in MD we're in an off year for acorns. I've found a couple random trees which honestly I prefer because it concentrates the deer. Next year the entire floor will be covered in um

I'm an odd duck in that I usually have more success when they are everywhere lol.

From Illinois here. Joined just to be part of the contest. I usually put a few down every year. If I don’t score big before rut, I’ll be taking a full week off before gun season. Let’s do this!
For some reason this totally reminded me of the good natured big fella in Remember the Titans who hustles into tryouts and says something like "Somebody said football, so I came runnin'!" That's cool you joined just for this contest, lol!

I’ve been stalking for info for years. I needed a new forum after getting banned from archery talk

I wonder if we'll be the same here in PA. I did get some scouting in this year but sadly not as of late.
Hopefully you will have some. Our red oaks had an off year last year so they should be good this year. Our white oaks mostly had wormy acorns last season, so it was a bit of work to find a hot tree. I did all my scouting post season this year, in February and March, and then I found a bunch of new promising spots during turkey season. I plan to go out mid to late next week and do a speed scout and check on about a dozen trees that have been good in the past. Out of those if I get 3 or 4 promising ones for opening week, I will be good. Based on past experience, the oaks don't get really good here until mid-October.

I had a great sit last night. Snuck in tight to a bedding area I found last november. Saw a rub on my way in. Got up in a funky tree that took me 45 minutes to get set up in and stay quiet. Had 2 come out to 15 yards just 10 minutes before shooting light ended. It is pretty dark by that time in the early season but I'm definitely starting to notice my eyes aren't quite as good during that grey light here in my 40th year lol. I couldn't see any antlers so I'm pretty sure it was a couple of big does. I bet they couldn't have been bedded any more than 50-75 yards from my tree so that is always fun to know you pulled it off. Did a little dark scouting on my walk out and found a nice rub where he ripped off the top of the tree next to a scrape. I'll probably give that area a sit sometime next week.
