Got out last night after work with my boy. We were 5 mins too late. Right spot right wind just weren’t able to get there soon enough. We were almost down into the bottom and I caught movement to our right. Of course we were hung out to dry with nowhere to hide. I got him to squat down next to me and we watched somewhere close to 10 does and fawns walk by us at 25. It’s a high stem count area and I didn’t have many shots to start with and there was just no way to get drawn without being busted. Once they passed through we continued through the bottom and of course before we can get to where we need to setup he swears he needs a sweatshirt. Take off pack, get out crap, get out sweatshirt, repack, get on sweatshirt, pack back on, cross stream, look up and dang it there’s more deer coming. Little better hiding spot but still lots of crap in the way. He did amazing as we had one doe stomping at us for close to 10 mins and he didn’t budge. She ended up calming down and walking away. Almost has a little buck make it to a clearing but a doe spooked just before he did. He didn’t know what was up but followed her out. Finally got setup and we had a little 6 point work behind us at 45 yards. Mission accomplished that he got to see some deer and a whole bunch but man 5 mins earlier and we were killing one. Brutal for the old man lol
