Team 11 Thread

I reckon I’ll tell a little about myself. I’m from Tuscaloosa, AL and this is my first year out of a saddle. I hunt on a 45,000 acre management area as well as 2,500 acres of private land. We have always meticulously managed the private land but I’m focusing a lot of my attention on the public land this year. My saddle setup is a phantom, novix mini sticks, and predator platform. Pretty basic white girl type setup but I definitely like the familiarity to what I came from. Still have a month before our season starts but Goodluck to all of y’all that are able to get in the woods.

P.S. Roll Tide

Did we win yet?

Season opened here Tuesday (SC) and I finally got in a tree for a couple hours this evening. Got skunked.

I thought you’d have 2 dead already by now! I had two small bucks come by last night but not the guy I’m after. Here he is

There’s one more decent one back there who I might not let walk if he came by.

So I’m hunting NC and Southern VA. I have a lease in VA, my strip of woods in the backyard actually is a funnel from food to bed, and I bought a 52 acre farm 2 hours north of where I live in a good county that also is the heart of the wine region here. So far the farm has a couple up and comers but nothing big yet. Need to check cameras again in VA but we had a nice one with giant brow tines.

See you in a tree, Ricky

That’s a good looking deer if I had him running around the house I’d be doing the same thing you are.

The owner of my new house didn’t hunt but put a salt block and cam out last year and had some pictures of some studs. There is a ravine with a creek running through the back part of my new property. It creates an obvious pinch point in the back corner of my property that’s the transition to a couple different wood lots that looks promising.. I need to buy a few cams. I went totally away from cams after bumping some good bucks checking them too often and messing up my spots.. cuddelink cams look cool and can check from the porch so that’s a plus.

I may end up in VA towards the end of my season if everything goes good. One of my college roommates lives out there. Have been out once before, they hunt with dogs.. Frowned upon by many but sure is a different hunting experience.

WI opener was last weekend. Have 2 sits in so far but no action to report. Headed in this afternoon to an area where I jumped 2 bucks a few weeks ago during a speed tour of a few bedding areas.

Best of luck! Trying to make it out this afternoon, but odds are looking slim that I’ll make it out at this point. What part of WI?

Well first day in the books for me! Saw 7 doe this morning, had them directly under me for about 30-40 minutes..... no bone today, I wont be hunting again until next saturday when WV opens..... gonna be a long week!

Well......I missed twice this evening, lol. Shot under one and over another.....

Should’ve know I had some technical difficulties when I drew back the first time and my “peep” was a solid wall of black. Let down, adjusted and drew back again.....still off, but not as bad. Let down a second time and adjusted again.....this time the peep was ok and I shot right under her.

20 minutes later 2 more come through from the other direction and I shot just over the back of this. She finally wandered off and I got down, gathered up my arrows and headed home, lol.

Just went out and shot and I definitely have some technical issues going on that need to be worked out tomorrow.

Tough night but at least your into the deer.

What’s everyone’s goals for the season? Whack and stack, trophy hunting ? One deer or multiple?

My personal goal is to shoot a buck over 135” and get two does. I live in a three deer county.

Whack and stack. We get to kill a lot and I plan on doing just that. I haven’t shot a buck in several years being picky.....we can kill plenty enough doses to satisfy my freezer.

I live in Sussex in SE WI Waukesha county). Had a good sit tonight. Had 2 yearling within 15 yards at 5:00ish One was a button buck. I could have shot him but would rather see him grow up. Then at 6:00 A nice doe came through at 25 but she scooted through before I could get the pin settled on her. Nice to have some action!

I have a buck tag and 3 doe tags for archery. My goal is to learn something every time I go out and to have fun doing it. I hope the fun includes a nice buck and a bonus doe (not necessarily in that order) so I can put some points on the board for the team. I’d like the buck to be bigger than last year but I am not picky.
