I'm in Southwestern PA, washington county.
That's a great time to be here! To bad you weren't gonna be closer, I'd be up for teaming up!

Yeah that’s kinda why I asked lol but yeah I’m excited it will be the first time in over a decade I’ll have been able to hunt archery in PA.

Finally, got a hour or so sit last night. No deer, but found a couple good pinch points next to a creek and a new subdivision that is being put in. Got to find some acorns!!

Getting excited for the weekend. Have a cold front coming through right now. High for Sat. is 49 and low is 35, so should be some good hunting! First sit of the year so far and getting antsy to head out

My new job has me out on WMA land on a regular basis and today was one of those days. Well, SC bucks have started a scrape frenzy, lol. I saw no less than 30 scrapes, several with fresh rubs nearby. Here’s a pick of 3 under one tree. Check out the licking branch on the closest one and you can see how fresh it is.....

And while I was working this goober decided to cruise by......

Opening morning tomorrow!!! Weather feels better than I ever remember for early October. Lows in the upper 40s...alot of times 65 is about the low. So should be a great morning. I will be working though. Still gets me excited.

Good sign that everyone has been seeing deer! Heading out tomorrow afternoon as well. Lots of season ahead of us (and the rut)

Well tonight I was following a fresh rub line into bedding and past an exit/entrance path to bedding by 30 yards. Turns out that’s the one he took and of course the wind was swirling right when it came down the path and winded me. Didn’t get a look at it but I’m fairly sure from the sign and where he came from he was a buck. Good thing I got a lot of different spots to let that one cool off for a while. Good luck this weekend fellas! Keep at em

So I had a pretty good morning sit, albeit not producing a filled tag. Sat from 6 - 11 this morning, saw nine doe. Had one come bolting through ran directly under the tree, she must have been bumped by another hunter. The lake is 4' low, which sorta complicated things getting out of the water..... but still it feels so crappin good to be here, waking up with the woods again leaves falling, geese and ducks talking all morning, turkeys flying down, deer under the stand,
I ........... LOVE ............ HUNTING
I feel so normal doing it, given everything that has happened this year. And it's even better that something I already had crazy passion for is now even more like going to therapy! Hope yall are having a great weekend and a great start to the season! Be safe, hunt happy!

Had a good evening sit today. Had virtually no wind, which I never find ideal. Saw 5 does with 3 of them getting within 10 yards, but didn't want to fill a doe tag yet. Also saw 2 bucks. One nice 8 point that was 40 yards away and a small 1.5 year old following him. Felt great to get into the woods like others have stated above. Can't wait to get more sits in!

I went in with the kayak this afternoon to a spot I thought might be overlooked. I was nice and quiet getting from the river on shore through the cattails. I discovered an apple tree on the way to my target tree that was dropping and getting hammered by the deer. So the plan changed. Just couldn’t walk past that much fresh sign so I pick a tree and start to set up. I get I stick up the tree and I hear a motor powered craft barrel into the cattails in front of me and 2 young fellas hop out and make a bee line to shore (not being at all stealthy) straight to the same apple tree. Turns out they had been hunting this “overlooked” area for the past several years and we’re coming out to put a camera by that apple tree to see what is in the area. Nice enough guys, just terrible timing for me that they picked today to put out cameras. WI opened several weeks ago. Fast forward to 6:00pm and I had a doe sneak in behind me ninja style. I was only 2 sticks up the tree so was not able to maneuver for a shot. Had another deer bust out about 15 minutes later sounding the blow horn all the way. Clearly that one didn’t care for my ground scent on the trail from the cattails to the apple tree. Good adventure even though it had a rough start.
