My 22 days of vacation started yesterday. Plan is to spend a good chunk of that hanging from a tree. I'm gonna try my luck on some public land this year since my normal spot never seems to pay off much. Just as soon as it cools down a touch...

Stalked into 30yds of 2 buck last night. Ran out of legal shooting light so hunkered down and let them go by.

You got that right. I’m going to paddle my kayak across a lake in the rain in the morning an hour before sunrise to hopefully get on one. But when you have a 20 degree temp drop over night… you. go. hunt. Good luck y’all.
 
Bout got on the board with the truck tonight. Went and pulled some cards from the farm and had a big 10 point sprint out in front of me on the way back to the house. Excited for opening day but really excited for the cold front coming Saturday

Only action I saw this evening was four squirrels making a racket in the ground leaves while collecting nuts. Got down a few minutes earlier than dark so there'd be enough ambient light to help me navigate that slope I crawled up earlier. Glad I did too because I didn't take the exact path back and found myself standing at the edge of a cliff! Had to traverse along the edge until I found some semblance of a slope which emptied into a field of boulders at the bottom. Not fun worrying about busting up an ankle in that stuff but I made it back to my vehicle without incident. Definitely will spend more time in there in daylight to get a good read on the landscape.
 
8 deer and a hog so far this morning. Saw a few yesterday but all does so far. Got drawn back on a doe for some practice since I haven’t shot anything out of a saddle.

This guy came by about 60 yards from where I’m at right now and about a half hour before I got in the tree.

Hey, how do you like the SpyPoint camera? Any issues with it sending pics? Wanted to get a couple but I read too many reviews stating they were problematic.
 
I bought the 2 pack and have had them a month or so now and they work fine for me. We get decent Verizon coverage at our place,1 to 2 bars on the phone, and I’ve got 90% signal service on the cameras. I set them to send pics once a day and the battery is showing as still full a month later. Some pics are pretty blurry but worth it for 70$ a cam with them being on sale right now.

Everyone is hit or miss with them. They work great for some people. Mine don't work great....I've had 8 so far. 3 of which have been replaced totally. 2 need to be sent back to be replaced/repaired(1 has already been replaced once). And i gave up on my spypoint link....right now I only have 2 that work.
 
We’ll no deer taken this weekend. Saw a ton of does and fawns but no bucks other than the one that ran out in front of me driving to the house. I did find a persimmon tree with just a couple fruits on it. Put one of my cell cams on it and maybe they’ll start falling soon.

Hunted yesterday morning and evening. Set up about 50 yards too deep along a swamp where I know deer cross. Several deer crossed the swamp and ended up down wind of me and busted me.

Yesterday eve I only saw a coyote at a distance. Been under the weather but maybe I can make it out this eve.

I'm on the last camping trip of the year with the family. Little state land in some public area. We took a bike ride down the trails. I was looking for some fresh sign. Didn't see anything let to get me excited. Might just go for a walk in the am. See if I can put eyes on something.
 
I'm living through you guys right now as I've been working midnights since Friday afternoon and won't finish up till Wednesday morning. Then I've got 8 days off to murder whatever gets within bow range! I can still doe/bear hunt in PA, buck hunt in CT and doe/buck/bear hunt here in NY so I will be bouncing around for sure. I did have a fat doe feeding under one of my apple trees out back yesterday and was going to send her to animal heaven right before I left for work but she never came in close enough.
 
My view this morning. We are under a full moon, so not much hope, but it’s a nice morning to be out.

Full moon. Weather has been beautiful out. Been hard to think about hunting. But weather is cooling. Took the family camping last few days, so momma is happy. Time to start getting serious. I dropped a few cameras at the farm. Heard there was a big boy running around. Try to see if I can catch up with him. I should be out Monday for sure. Maybe Sunday night if I get some things done.
 
I'm hoping for some tree time this weekend myself, wish I could go tomorrow, gonna be 13° cooler than today
