Back from WY. Gonna take me a week to find my crap and get organized. But I’ll be back out soon.

Well, should have shot the doe Thursday morning. Spent Friday, Saturday and this morning in the rain and wind and didn’t get a shot. Had some small bucks that I didn’t want to fill my last buck tag on but every doe I saw seemed to zig when I needed them to zag. Never got one closer than 25 yds.

I’m out of vacation but will find a way to add five more points in the next couple weeks before my knee surgery.

Things are just starting to get kicked off here. Had a shooter come in at gray light last night too a few soft grunts. Hung up in the thick stuff and snort wheezed at me. Right once legal light faded he came into the field and proceeded to make 4 different scrapes and tear the trees to living s***. I have all of next week off and looks like a great cold front coming in with a red moon to boot. Hopefully turns out well

Guys, I have been nothing but dead weight for the team so for - do to a crazy work schedule. However, I am finally going to be able see what the woods look like this weekend and all next week!!! Hopefully, I will get a couple slick heads to add to y'all's hard work.

We got yer back. Im killin this wkend!

Hunted very little so far this year. Made two trips with friends. The first trip was to a wma I had never been to. Out of six of us one guy “thought” he saw a deer. Same group again this weekend on some national forest land. This is usually a good hunt with almost everyone in our group killing something several normally double up. This time 2 out of six of us killed one deer. I was fortunate enough to get this six point. One of the guys gives me grief about my saddle. He was packing up to leave when I grabbed my pack out of the truck. He asked when I was going back to get my stuff. I said I brought it out with me. He asked how I carried it all. I wore out the saddle and everything else was in the badlands 2200. Try that with your climber. 1.3 miles with a little over 300 feet of elevation change sucked but at least most of it was old logging roads.

Nice sixer Eric, congratulations!

well....figures i never saw a doe on that last hunt. He walked under my stand and then broadside at about 15yds for over 5 min. I shot a doe already but with a rifle so they wont count it. We get 3 archery hunts (during the rut) and cant shoot a buck til we get a doe. I should have scouted for doe sign instead of him but its just habit to look for buck sign and set up. I knew no one else shot him yet and he was back there. He didnt spook and i hunt there again on the 13th.

Just found out someone shot a buck in the same hunt as me but the arrow broke off and he was still looking for it. Hope he didn't shoot the one I'm after. It was illegal to shoot so we have a very angry program director. He sent out an email saying "he's never taken away so many antlers in a season". Glad I followed the rules! Hope it gives me some good luck soon

What kind of private land is this? Seems like fairly strict rules compared to what I’ve heard of?

Finally was able to connect on a small doe today just as a small buck was about to run her off.
Been hunting 5 days straight and every morning and afternoon small pecker head bucks would intercept every doe as they were coming to my tree.
Hopefully, I can add another then focus on a buck but definitely want a few doe this year.
Good luck everyone.

Was able to connect again this afternoon on a bigger doe this time. Had a nice 3 1/2 year old 10 point minus a G3 that was completely broken off chase this doe off. He stayed under my tree for about 5 minutes testing me but he will be even better next year. Was rewarded as she came back 15 minutes later. Finally got the 2 doe out the way sorry it took so long.
Good luck everyone!!

Way to go man! I haven’t even hit the woods yet but we run until Feb 10th. Hoping to hit it hard after thanksgiving but should get out some before that.

Well fellows I spent 5 hard days, logging lots of miles on public land in Ohio with nothing to show, lol! Seen several deer but no shooters by my standards, so back to the great state of Ky to see if I can connect with on of my target bucks there.

Something similar happened to a 10 point on my place. He’s the only one visiting in the daytime on a regular basis as well. At least he’s making the decision of whether or not to shoot him easier. Oh well he should be nice next year if he makes it.

Yeah, hopefully everyone will let him walk...he will be a good one next year and maybe keep his same daytime pattern for you.
