That is a VXR 28 for comparison haha, she’s going to produce a solid amount of meat for the freezer. She was big.

Finally in a tree in Virginia. Couple white slowly dropping so hopefully anything that comes through will do some wondering and eventually come close enough for shot.

I’ve seen 4 does so far tonight. One hour to go. I’m on the west side of a trail about 5 yards off it and they have all passed about 20 yards off the the East. Super obscured.

First sitfirst sit.jpg Friday on private land with no luck. not quite in the right location. Second sit Saturday evening after doing some morning scouting on some public land. Saw a big doe and what looked like a button head coming in to feed in a oak flat on the edge of a thicket of underbrush. Found this MRS (most recent sign) yesterday morning. I had a long walk out and forgot my flash light so I started packing up shortly after sunset and midway down the tree two large body deer came into feed. They didn't blow but they heard something and ran off. Hopefully in a few days I can get back in there and get just a little tighter to the thicket to get closer to those deer that waited so late to come in and feed.

Was hanging the whole weekend at a few spots behind my house but didn't see anything. Pulled a card from a trail cam and found out why. I have a new neighbor a few properties over who has been running quads on the state land (illegal) and also cut some trees down to make a trail which runs right under what used to be my best producing area. To add insult to injury he had the stones to post his property yet drives his quads illegally over mine and my other neighbors properties to access the top of his property. Glad I found this out early in the season so I can adjusted my hunting accordingly.
At work today but will be back out tomorrow.
Good luck out there guys.

Woowwwww

Irony. Cold hard irony. I set up in the same area I hunted over the weekend, except on the opposite side trail where all the deee passed. Saw three does tonight. First one passed well behind me with no shot. Minutes later the other two walked right next to the tree I sat in LAST TIME, crossed the trail to my side, and proceeded to stand broadside on my weak side at about 10 yards.

I couldn’t wrap 270 around to shoot due to some branches on the back side. Couldn’t stand on my platform to shoot as the tree was slightly leaning, pointing my platform just barely down. And finally couldn’t twinkle toes myself into position in the moment. They walked away oblivious to my quandary.

This was my last hunt in this WMA. Archery permit opens back up in December after firearm and ML have their crack. I’ve been soooo close to putting it all together so far and have just not had the luck. Man I’m stoked to get back out there and try again next time!!

That's happened to me too many times, move to a different tree because that's where the action was only to watch the action take place at the original tree the next time out. Lol.
At least you're seeing movement, the woods here got quiet...
