Seem to have some hellish luck this season. Should have put over 40 points on the board in the past two weeks.


I've got Thursday and Friday off this week to hunt that cold front. Finally supposed to get that North West wind I've been waiting on to hunt another property that has some really nice bucks. One old 10pt and who knows what other bucks. Last year at this time I hade 7 different mature bucks in 7 days cruising down a specific travel corridor that sets up absolutely perfectly for 15-20 yard shots (I'm not going to say chip shot since apparently I cant seal the deal on a textbook 12 yard drop shot)

No luck!!! Trailed and searched for total of 5 hours and never found!
 
Fellas, clearly we need a reset this season.... it's Monday, let's all pull a Taylor Swift and shake it off, then get back in the saddle! The commander gave me permission to hunt Weds, Thurs, and Friday, and I'll probably play hookie from work for an all day sit friday..... so let's put our big boy pants on and get some deer on the ground! I’ve been skunked the last two mornings and the afternoons have been too hot. Ready for a cold front. Only a couple more days before I have to go back to ugghhhhhh work

Back in tree. I hate shooting does during the rut but if one comes out and sticks around to long with no signs of having a buck in tow, it could be bad for her

First sit since royally f***ing up. Sitting close to home, saw a descent 10 point here last night while glassing. Only issue, it's a field edge. . . .I hate field edges, hopefully the neighbor doesn't start grabbing bails tonight. . . Good luck if you're in the tree! Be safe and enjoy it!!.
 
Off tomorrow and Friday. Making all day sets this weekend. Been getting the buck I hit last week on camera about 1/4 mile away. Would like to send another one through him, Though it will have to be saturday the way the wind is forcasted.

On another note, when are yall seeing the most deer movement in your area. I'm seeing mostly evening movement for both does and bucks which is odd for this time of the year. Most of the movement I normally see this time of year is in the mornings.
 
Been seeing very little mornings and not much evenings. To warm. Ended up seeing a button buck and his sister this evening

Had to stop by and grab my jacket that I left under the tree I was hunting in last Friday. Was in my company truck, bow and rig with me. Thought to myself, man I should hunt tonight with this rain moving in. Decided against it cause the misses probably wouldn't care for it and taking two days off I needed to finish up some work.

That damn buck I hit last Friday walked by at 5:04 :oops:

What in the world do you bale in November?!
If I'm baling past October 1 I've got zero nutrients in the grass (unless it's Bermuda)
 
Back up for afternoon. Decent easterly wind. Just need a cruising scent checking buck to meander by. Or doe, after that neck meat thread I need me some neck to try

Goodluck to everyone getting after it. After time changes it seems its harder for me during the work week to get in an evening hunt. I'm giving this Saturday to my wife, but I should be able to hunt Sunday.

Well didn't hunt tonight, wifey was in need of some attention. . . . . So I'll be in the tree all day tomorrow, and that's it for me for archery. WV rifle opens the Monday before turkey day, then right into pa rifle, then WV muzzy and then PA flintlock, so I can't hunt at all next week, to much to get done before winter, and lots of firearm hunting to do over the next 8 weeks!!

I have no idea what he was doing actually, I think he may have just been mpwing it. . . .I've never seen him do that before though, he's always cut to bale it.... either way, I should have texted him to see if he was gonna do anything that night...
 
Had a buck cruise by my stand Tue and Wed same location about 30yds in some thick brush. Got one good glimpse and it looks promising, but I really haven’t had the chance to size him up but I think he‘s a shooter. So I moved my setup about 40 yards for better position. Rained today, we’ll see if he shows up tomorrow. Last week, had the biggest buck I’ve ever laid eyes on in the flesh get in behind me and catch me off guard. I can’t hear a thing so he was only about 15yds away when I heard him in the graylight. He walked by at 10 ft from the tree I was sitting in but I wouldn’t shoot him in the back and after he was past he was in the limbs and all I had was an ass shot anyway so I had to watch him walk. I sat all day to see if he would come back through. He didn’t but I had a nice 10 pt using a doe as a shield come in, but he was in the thick also and must have gotten a whiff because he slinked off back the way he came Those sucked, but there‘s a lot of season left and the rut is on top of me so the next two weeks should get real.
 
Ended up seeing something I’ve never seen before. A buck in velvet (messed up rack) but I’ve never seen one before while hunting. Probably should of shot but this place has odd rules and I hesitated and then couldn’t get a shot. Another small buck came down same trail about two minutes later and that was it for the afternoon

Had a doe literally 2' from the base of my tree tonight, came off a ridge right in front of me. After it was near to dark to see, a buck came by @ 30 yards. Couldn't tell what he was, he stopped when he cut the doe's trail, paused for 2-3 minutes, made a short grunt and continued on.

Had quite a bit of doe action but no bucks this morning.
