Team 3 Thread

I'm hoping that whatever karma God I made mad is finally squared up with me.

2 weeks ago, had my track bar snap on my truck. Put me down until I got a new one and swapped it. Luckily, I had it in time to get ready for the rifle opener here in AR. Got the truck loaded up Friday night, and started driving up to hit the hunting area, and boom... ABS light comes on, massive vibration, and my brakes darn near went out. Turns out I lost a wheel bearing. Had to turn around, but was able to limp it home.

What do I wake up to Saturday morning? My phone blowing up from cell cam pics...of my target buck, walking right in front of my stand. Awesome.

Got the wheel bearing, and started working on the truck. Boom- phone goes off again at around 11....same buck again.

Then, to top it off, I couldn't go out Sunday because of some other commitments. And, just to be funny... guess who comes out again Sunday morning.

It's like a sick joke...I wish I was kidding.
Life ~ being an adult is hard. Had a couple of days like that this season, I'd be lying if i said I didn't want to throw a massive tantrum like my 7yo does when her older sister eats the last smore's poptart.
Don't let the grind, we'll "grind you down". This is where the metal meets the meat, quite literally. How bad do you want it? Use those pics as motivation to get your a$$ out of bed and to the tree!

On a side note: I got my closure today @0257, he's alive. I hunted in the area where the big fella lived (correction lives) on Thursday, at 07 I had a huge buck come cruising in, I noticed him at about 60-70 yards out and started to slowly grab my banks, I mean slow, and he caught me as if I was waving my arms and blowing a whistle. He was big, I thought just maybe it was him. Well this morning I wake up with a spypoint notification, like most mornings, I check it out and see what I thought was a missed capture, and almost deleted it. But there on the corner is an antler, clearly visible when zoomed in!

I would have called in sick on Monday then Tuesday etc...until I killed him or he left the area.

I'll be out this afternoon for a short sit after work. Chasing a big 'un so fingers crossed!

Well, who's still in the game? T-minus 6 days til the WV rifle season opener, and 11 days til the PA opener. I'm always kind of at a loss during the opener because I feel like it's chaotic but in general. It not bad where I tend to hunt. I'm stoked I got a picture of the buck I was after, but I have no idea how to begin getting after him. .. . .

Maybe I need to dump the single bevels for something else. I don't know. Its probably a good thing that the servers were down yesterday on the site, yall would have seen a nice Bowtech carbon Icon for sale.
I've been a Rage shooter for a over a decade (real ones not the knockoffs) and the quality has really went downhill in the last few years. I've switched to the Iron Will wides and have now shot two deer and both jumped when hit, went a very short distance (10-20 yards) and stood there looking back until they went down for good. No tracking required. This is a very small sample so I'm not ready to scream their praise from rooftops but I loved to see very little reaction to getting hit, more like they got bit by a fly instead of an arrow going through them. The old Rage the deer would run for as far as they could possibly make it. Plus I was able to disassemble, sharpen them and put them back in the quiver versus throwing them away like I did my Rage's.

The buck I killed last year did not run at all. He pushed a doe to me and I liver shot him @ 15 yards, he bounded to 35 yards and stopped staring at his doe just pouring blood. Nocked another arrow and put the second arrow right through the heart breaking the off side humerus. He ran 20 yards after that.

I've shot, Rage 3 blade about 12 years ago, montecs, muzzy 3 blade(the cheap Walmart ones). Last year was the samurai single bevel, this tear the cut throats. I'm just at a loss of what went wrong with this doe, I know what went wrong with the buck a week and a half ago, but this doe should have been dead near within sight of me. The shot looked identical to at least a half dozen kills I've made in the past.

I just had a sevr 1.5 delivered yesterday. Going to throw it through a doe and see how it performs. A lot of people seem to like them a lot

That's amazing! Would be nice if he would give you a good pic where you could see where you hit him earlier this season.

Dad called me this evening, said he saw the big 10 while going down to feed the cattle. Phone buzzed while I was on the phone with him.

Rifle season opens this weekend for us. No hunting Saturday but plan on making a weekday evening hunt and then all day sunday

An odd ball showed up tonight but I’m tagged out on bucks. on the 15th got a smaller 7 point not from the saddle I could kick myself for it. I’ll get back out there to get on a doe for sure though.

oddball for sure

My first buck was an odd ball. Perfect 4pt on one side, two main beams sticking out the other side

Getting ready to leave work and should be back in a tree shortly.

Saw 2 doe tonight and maybe 1 small buck...with 5 minutes of legal left....watched for 10 minutes till pitch black. They were on the opposite side of my ridge from where they normally are and headed in headed in opposite direction, which was weird. We finally have snow, so hoping to track where they were coming from in the morning and find a spot to setup for tomorrow night. All in all a good night, always is when you see anything around here!

Well, archery season has come and gone. Christmas music is on the radio, we're decorating the house this week. It is a bitter sweet ending. I had a banger of a year, I killed two quality bucks, but I can't shake this unsettled feeling that I left something to be desired. I made alot of mistakes, I learned alot. The bucks I'm killing are getting bigger year by year, but I still can't get the job done on the true king bucks, I've screwed up on 3 different book bucks in the past 4 years.
Now I have close 7 weeks straight of firearms hunting starting monday, but I feel like archery is where I make the money sp to speak.
I'm done boo whooing, I hope everyone is having a great season, and still had the chance to get out!

7 weeks??? ***. We get 2. Then back to archery for a few when it's below freezing(or 0) almost every day...so backwards...

It's 2 weeks of rifle in WV, and 2 weeks in PA, then a one week muzzleloader in WV, then a flintlock only season that starts the day after Christmas. So it's combined close 7 weeks..
