Team 5 Thread

Had a fun hunt tonight, a few doe and a nice buck at 35 - 45 yards. A fat doe came in on my weak side 5 o’clock, as I was reaching for my back band and moved everything out.
Pretty exciting for just the second hunt of the season. I need to be better situated for 12:00 shots as that would have been where the deer filtered in. Hope you all get some shots this weekend (if your season is open).
 
Hunted yesterday evening. Had a nice steady E wind all day. My control group of water oaks were dropping good so I made my way past them a few hundred yards in to a hardwood plateau that has plenty of them. Wind completely died as soon as I got there. Woods were dead. Finally saw a couple of squirrels and both were tree feeding. No water oaks dropping in there.

Went behind my house the morning. It’s all national forest. Saw 6 does on their way back to bedding that we’re 60 yards away feeding on acorns. Patterns are definitely changing. They’re hitting fresh acorns hard here. I’m either setting up this afternoon or in the morning by the tree they’re hitting.

Killed a young buck tonight on a peninsula of TVA property. Will put him in the contest tomorrow. He got a boat ride home in my gheenoe. Pretty fun. The other buck tag will probably stay in my pocket for a bigger one later in the season and I’ll switch to does now when I get out. When I shot him he back flipped into a huge hole left by a root ball and died there it was crazy! I’ve never stepped foot on this spot but escouted it, busted brush back there, and was settled in for 21 minutes before I shot him. Put the whole guy in my pop up 28 and had him to the boat before darkness fell. Pretty fun to hunt that way, pretty new to me as I usually and following target bucks and being picky on private

Thats the boat ride and the hole he jumped in. Don't worry though, the crossbow belongs to my buddies kid not me! hahaha
