Last Wednesday pm I had two small bucks in front of me at last light but was hoping to see something bigger so I let them pass. Weather has come into our area and that has made things somewhat move their patterns to some extent so my sightings have been down. I've seen more bucks this year than does although I did have a doe come buy me on an afternoon hunt but she just looked so small. I wasn't in a saddle that afternoon though I was in a Pac-Seat.
Then, Friday or Saturday morning the wind was really coming in hard and heavy so I went down on the leeward side of a ridge and at first light a nice red fox crossed in front of me on the bench below the one I was on. A few minutes after that fox went through the clucks, putts and gobbles started all around me as I was blessed to be "waking up with the Turkeys." Another 10 minutes or so after flydown, another red fox came by.... smaller and blonder and ended up heading along the same bench the first one was on. At 10:30 I was freezing and the wind was consistent with snow squalls.... good time to still hunt.... I start slowly walking into the wind along the lower bench..... shwish.... shwish then a tail flicker... two deer go bounding off. I go inspect the beds..... they must have been there all morning the leaves were dry and there was snowfall all morning. I didn't see horns but one bed was huge and the other was large... like a doe locked up by a buck... ugh. It was a good morning though.
