Team 6!

Happens to the best of us. I’ve been hunting for 20 years and lost track of my release last season on a November 7th hunt in a spot i had saved for this time period. Trust me my ears were steaming. Eventually found it but not before walking back to the truck and searching for it and creating twice the disturbance. But honestly those are the hunts where you usually kill one for some reason. I passed a nice looking young buck that morning at the base of my tree. Always something that goes south, it’s how you respond after that that makes the man. It’s all about not letting yourself make a similar mistake again. You have to learn many things the hard way in this sport. Good luck and keep grinding! It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Thank you, I tried to make the best of it when I went back out but it was late at that point.

I repacked and organized everything I take into the woods with me yesterday night to give everything a permanent home when it’s not in use.

Well boys I have renewed hope in a private land piece I get to hunt. Finally a shooter on camera...

He is a beaut! Is that a split brow tine on his right side? I love bucks with a lot of character.

Oh yeah. Everybody has done that. Thats why you practice shooting with two fingers. One above and one below the nock just for times like this. Its definitely different and is very uncomfortable but it will happen again, trust me. Or you forget your bow, or your boots, or __________. So many variables to Bow Hunting. Especially since you have to be close to your animal. Wind, equipment, etc. Anything can go wrong at any given time. But the rewards......priceless

Being my first year saddle hunting, my entire way I pack has changed and last week was very helpful for me. Found several things that needed reworked and I have been fixing to make it easier, quieter, etc. I've said from the beginning I didnt see the point of 1 sticking. I have changed my mind and will be trying it after season.
Got permission to hunt another 40 acres my Lease Owner has. Tracks all over the place and a Huge set in there. Excited about that. Put my camera out there yesterday and hope to have a nice one on there.
Good luck out there guys!!

Got in a tree this morning. Wasn't as quiet as I wanted to be. But plenty of white oaks dropping this morning. Kinda scary how much of a thud they create hitting the ground! Shoulda brought a helmet!!!

haha they do make some noise.. Taking some white oak acorns to the head is usually worth the headache. They're pretty small anyhow, better than a crab apple. Enjoy your hunt!

Deer everywhere this morning. 15 so far. Nanny doe busted me early as I was drawing my bow. Then a family group of doe came in. As I was setting up a shot on another nanny, I heard a grunt and all hell broke loose. A really nice 125+ busted up the group. I did a small sparring sequence and another shooter showed up just a hair smaller. I missed him at 40 yards. Hit a small branch at about 30 yards and pushed my arrow left 3 feet! Gotta good wind till about lunch, I hope I can capitalize next time.

Keep at it! Sounds like a good sit so far!

One of my pet peeves. Catching deer. Lol. I also have grown a disdain for people calling it “deer meat”. There’s a name for that folks.

The "deer meat" doesn't bother me so much as the "catching" deer might. I was in Scheels the other day buying my tags. The lady behind the counter asked me if I was going hunting. I appreciated the effort for casual conversation, but I had to chuckle a bit.
