Team 6

Today was most likely my last day of archery season and I too bet tomorrow is the day. I sat 6 hours this morning in absolutely brutal conditions by Texas standards. 42 degrees, blowing 20+ out of the north, and patchy rain. I only caught a glimpse of a deer running at 300 yards. I would love to hunt tomorrow but we have Halloween stuff with the kids. Hopefully someone can bag a Spooky Halloween deer. It looks like I’ll have to wait to upgrade my buck until rifle opener this weekend.

Went out today for my first sit of the year. I went out to some public this morning and scouted around not really finding anything worth sitting on. Came home and decided to hunt near the house found some sign and wasn’t in the tree to long when a doe came in and begged me to shoot her but instead I just watched and waited to see if anything followed… it didn’t lol.

With you on that @Mschmeiske.. my target buck came in behind me (not expecting that) came by at 6 yards, the cover didn’t give me a shot and by the time he cleared it he was facing away from me at 20, as soon as he started to turn I stopped him with a little sniffle and shouldered him…

Found him bedded a couple hundred away and squirrels spooked him off. Blood in his bed but looked like muscle blood. Backed out as I needed to go to work and I can’t be bumping this deer all over the neighborhood..

Sorry to hear that. Tough day for team 6. Hopefully we’ll have other opportunities.

Bright side I think he’ll live, and hopefully be back to rut stuff soon. Also had another big deer I hadn’t previously seen locked down on a doe 70 yards away. He had her backed into a drainage. Live to fight another day

I had what I believe was this small 8pt again at 30 yards this morning and this evening a doe and fawn at very last light. I’m thinking at any moment all hell should break loose in one of these areas.

Right on schedule a rut funnel I was planning to hunt this weekend has become active. I had pictures this afternoon of a doe and fawn so I requested the video and the two pass the camera and then a few seconds behind comes a big body through the brush. He doesn't get close enough to see the rack and doesn't trigger a picture. Hopefully it is the wide 8 I have been seeing. And hopefully he doesn't have her locked down somewhere else this weekend.
