Well, we should be done hurricaning some time tonight so I may well slip out tomorrow AM. I have a camera out I need to check on anyway as every picture I get from it seems to be from a different angle, lol. I believe Rocky Raccoon is the culprit….

haha damn raccoon! Goodluck!!

We had heavy rain last night, then on and off drizzle today with 15-20 mph sustained winds, so I took advantage of the conditions and did some still hunting/spot and stalk. It was one of those days where it felt like I was wearing an invisibility cloak. Saw a bunch of deer, got within bow range of several, and didn't get busted once. Really fun hunt.

Hunted the other side of the ditch I was on last week putting an oak flat that’s dropping acorns like crazy behind me….

Didn’t see crap. Woods were dead still. On the way home every field was full of deer. Craziness going on here, lol.

Jumped 1 little one while I was trying to sneak in through the marsh. The area was loaded with big beds. Didn’t see anything but squirrels during the sit. Pulled my camera on the way out and it apparently stopped working on 8/30. Only 2 pictures on it. The icing on the cake was on the way out, there were several trees marked with glow tacks so looks the the adjoining private land owner was in there before me. That’s just part of the game of hunting Public I guess.

Had an opportunity for a quick hunt after dropping my daughter off at yet another hunting season weekend b-day party.....it was a great spot, tons of new poop etc....but as I got to the top and had just placed my platform the first deer, a freezer queen big MN doe and her mature fawn, I've seen all season showed up while my bow was still on the ground and I was in the middle of moving my tether up to the final spot! I just hugged the tree for 15 mins while they walked all around and under my tree... .so at least my scentlok scent control is good!....if I had had my bow we'd have some points and I'd be eating tenderloins instead of Spaghetti... oh well next time I'll be quicker!

Had a great hunt this morning with a sad ending. Had a 2.5 year old 7 point show up at sixty yards downwind and he hung around and slid into 27 before deciding that the funny smell he was smelling wasn't something he should investigate further. He never blew or acted alarmed just slid off the ridge and meandered away. About 20 mins later another buck showed up @ 40yards downwind, he was older and wiser and didn't give me much time to take any kind of action. All I could do was regret not staying closer to the top of the ridge as I watched the B&C class buck run through the woods away from me. I won't get back out for about 2 weeks so hopefully he doesn't go to far

I want to like that for the fact that you saw a damned fine WTBD, but I can’t bring myself to do it, I would be a wreck
I'm glad I saw him, I just wish it would have been before he was standing on my ground scent with his nose in the air looking for me

Gonna be on stand tomorrow afternoon, Lord willing. Excited for my first sit of the year. Wasn't able to hunt opening day. Got some really regular bucks coming in but I'm really conflicted about shooting them. They seem kinda young to me. Guess I'll make my decision when I'm in the moment.

Sorry gents after my failed opportunity I took a step back to father myself, I’m back in the game now and headed out today for an afternoon hunt. Depending on the wind though I may end up in a ladder stand and not my saddle.
