Well, almost had me a doe! They were slowly working my way and needed to come about 25 yards closer. I don’t know what happened, right after they ran I tossed some milk weed and wind was good. Maybe something else spooked them.
old nannys are tough, was ground scent an issue?Well, almost had me a doe! They were slowly working my way and needed to come about 25 yards closer. I don’t know what happened, right after they ran I tossed some milk weed and wind was good. Maybe something else spooked them.

what a day it’s been already, temps in the mid 50’s and dropping. I got out here later than I would have liked and saw a ton of deer on their feet on the drive up, so I opted to climb into a ladder stand I had just to be in the game.
I Checked my wind and wasn’t great but it was doable. Within 5 minutes of sitting I had a young fisher walk right below me and the parade began!
100 yards out to my left I had nine different deer walking in the first hour. It was about this time the wind switched. 20 min into hour 2, I see 3 working their way in from about 70-80 yards. They hit my wind and turn around. It was only 3:20 at this point so I backed out to my truck, grabbed my sticks and saddle and away I went, 50 yards away from where I was on a choke point and back in a tree by 4:00.
hoping I get lucky and something works it’s way back here before 7 (end of hunting hours).
PS the squirrels are playing hell with my emotions today.

Thats a productive sit for the local turkey populationShot a hog and 2 coons. No deer. Going with the trad gear in the morning.

That's rough, but at least it was a clean miss. How long have you been shooting trad?Gotta tell you fellas, the recurve is gonna be the death of me. Shot right under a doe at 14 yards yesterday morning. Misses a doe and a really nice buck last year. I've killed several hogs with it, but deer are just different.

This is my 3rd deer season with it. Hit a doe first year but not enough penetration to kill her. Got pictures of her healthy days later. Missed twice last year. Now starting off in familiar territory again. LolThat's rough, but at least it was a clean miss. How long have you been shooting trad?

Got a doe boys!
Have you considered shoving weights down her throat? (Too soon?)Got a doe boys!
That's a tough way to start, I've considered making the switch to trad equipment myself but haven't pulled the trigger. Way to stick with it though, I'm not sure I'd be able to if I didn't get the results I wanted pretty quicklyThis is my 3rd deer season with it.
