We only need to kill 20 does to tie for first boys, LOL. I'll take care of two of them. I'll actually take care of probably 4-5 of them but the last 2-3 wont do us any good. Its always funny to be waiting around for an end of Jan rut when guys seasons are long gone.

Who else besides ninja and GCR are still at it? I feel like a good part of our team has been MIA most of the season.

After a series of somewhat unfortunate events, our ski trip got canceled, but I’m thinking I’m gonna go ahead and take off the week and try to get some serious hunting in. Mrs. seems to be OK with it. Still hammering away with operation get out of last place haha

Sorry to hear but Sounds better than a cold, $$$$$ ski trip anyway. No sure where you were headed but its gotten insane expensive here in CO to the point Ive given it up. Its also been single digits the last several morning and supposed to continue. The day I leave for Bama is supposed to be 12 for a HIGH, if you can call it that. I wont be sad to head south.

Looks like we're 20 points back. If you and doe out we can tie for last, at least then we'll have company. I should be able to kill some sort of buck and a few does but who knows. Sounds like there hasn't been a ton of pressure and there have only been 4 does and 2 bucks killed on the lease so far down there so there will be deer around.

Thirty pointer would do it. Go get them.

Man…. Just had a nice 8pt feed off the private green field to the corner. I’m set up 40 yd se of the corner. He was walking out the corner basically gone and I stopped him and took the shot. I’m comfortable with 40 but I hit a limb.

And…. Gut shot a doe. Such a good day and I went and screwed every opportunity up. The deer were really moving, I saw 4 bucks.

RANT
There was a boat probably 300 yards from where I was planning on going. So 40 yards down a dude walked to the bank so I went to talk to him see where he was going I said, "How you doing man" and he answered with " I'm not trying to be a dck but you see my boat is parked there why would you pass by." To which I responded "there's so much woods past your boat, you expect no one else to hunt?" He said “your boat is scaring the deer with its smell.” Lol He was on the West Bank of a North to South running wood line with a NW WIND... so blowing away from the bank he was on. Not that I buy that anyway. I said you're walking down the middle of the woods I think that'll screw the deer up plenty. He said, “the weather says it’s a nw wind but it’s really a NE wind” lol. Then he asked me to keep my voice down, I told him this conversation could of went a very different way. I asked him where he was hunting so we could deconflict but he was adamant on being a tool. Turns out he was going where I was the other day, just didn't drive his boat in because he didn't want to go over logs. So decided walking through 300+ yards of woods where deer travel was a good option. He had a friggin havoc allweld boat made for hopping logs specifically lol I finally shook my head and said that I was trying to be friendly but you want to act like you own the woods. I went past him to where I went in the other day but thought wiser of getting out and decided to go to another place entirely... I hate it but ain't worth him tearing up my stuff or hurting me. Got a wife and kid, no deer is worth that.

Most people I meet are super friendly because it’s public land and we are all hunting the same woods. You ask where they’re headed or tell them where you’re headed and deconflict if needed. Oh well…

To add insult to injury he was a saddlehunting public land Tethrd bro.. with a handlebar mustache

Rant over

Left out to take the youngun to school this morning and there’s a decent buck trotting down the road. He didnt seem to care that I was coming up behind him until about the time I started seriously thinking about how to run him over without messing up the meat or my truck. He darted off into my neighbors field and I got to watch him hop off like Pepe le Pew. Tomorrow going to try to leave 30 seconds earlier… and wear my saddle….
