Team 9

Well, he came out a little earlier today. Came to the edge of the woods and stopped to lick his butt. I figured I’d draw while he was nose deep in his butt so I’d be ready when he stepped out into the field but (no pun intended) he saw me and bolted. Strike two, time to try a new local.

Well no news from Wisco. My SD muley trip was ruined with COVID, basically came down with symptoms the 1st evening out there, so had a chance to glass some nice deer and then dream about them. Probably wouldn't have been a saddle kill anyway but still sucked. That and a teething toddler kept me on the couch sleeping for most of the last 2 weeks.

WI bow season has been poopy. Haven't seen **** but white tails on the walk in, usually I need to go deep to get onto deer but I would have been better sitting 50 yds from the road so far. Seems like alot less hunter sign in the woods than the last 2 years as well. This last weekend was youth gun season and I didn't even hear much for shots. I have a half dozen sits in and by this time last year I'd passed half a dozen shots, can't buy one this year. I'll be back out this weekend and might finally get out on some private and start freezer filling. I did my last roast in the instapot last night and I still have burger and sausage left but I've been out of steaks for a couple months. Time to get some backstraps. Good luck!

Taking tomorrow off to put some real woods time in, going to sit a highway spot that typically starts heating 2nd half of October, cold front moved in tonight, hopefully it'll keep em on their feet longer in the am. Gonna scout/hunt/hang cameras at a new area to me for deer, I've turkey hunted there but not deer, until about 3 then I'm gonna hit the neighbors field near where a 10pt kept showing himself ..... low expectations but high hopes! Haven't heard from you guys in a few days, hope yall are well and happy hunting, be safe! !

Nothing for me this weekend.... Cyber scouting for the following weekend muzzleloader I was invited as a guest on....and my other friend drew a gun hunt for the same wma and he offered me his guest permit... Super thankful. I didn't think I would get an opportunity to take my new rifle but looking up.
According to the interwebs somebody killed a 130" buck at the military base I normally hunt in the late season....I assume that's gonna make for larger crowds so that kinda stinks...it was crowded enough last year

I tried a spot near my house yesterday that I have never even walked in. To my surprise it was great habitat with lots of trails and beds in the brush filled fields. It probably doesn’t hold large numbers but they do at least travel through it. Didn’t see anything but it has potential.

Great job @blt348
If you are able to upgrade from a ten pointer, you just gotta take me hunting with you lol. I dream of a day when Jersey has deer over 2.5 years old!

well, last evening I went out but was running about 30 min late. I hit the woods around 4:30 and made it to my area I wanted to sit on. It was a creek bottom with some pretty thick stuff around one edge and a oak flat on the other side. Deer have been running the creek bottom for cover. I spot the tree I want to climb and boom out of no where, I hear a deer running. A 4 point come flying out of the thick stuff right at me and about 5 yards from me looks up spots me and button hooks left! Right behind him chasing was about a 130" 8 point, very tall and thick dark rack! I froze, no arrow knocked and watched the show. I literally thought they were going to run me over. Great start to the evening, as I had deer all over me for the remaining 2 hours of daylight. However no shooter...

According to USDA, corn was 36% as of yesterday with dry weather for the next week. My land is surrounded by corn fields which is why I haven't been seeing anything and hope they start harvesting up there before Friday.

All the corn fields around me went to silage in the last 2 weeks which means they’ll be back in my area and more easy to pattern…I hope.

Everything seems to be working against me but tentatively be in the woods in the morning.
Sat sun mon dark 2 dark or until a buck is down is the plan but everybody is sick and having to rely on babysitters so it's hard to be 100%
