Team Last Chance (Team 14)

Got a quick sit in last night in the rain. Good news: my rain gear worked beautifully; bad news: I think I was victim to no wind and dropping thermals. Had three bucks in the field the night before so I found this tree on the field edge and thought it was going to happen. Still happy to get my second sit in. Looks like next week temps are going to drop so hoping to be back at it for 2-3 days.

First sit for me. Still to warm for my liking.

Bow season starts Friday but i wont be out until Saturday evening. We have a cold front coming thru hunting on public I've never hunted before. Hopes are high.

Humidity between 85-97 the rest of this week. Temps in the high 70’s low 80’s here. I dont have enough faith in deer movement under these conditions to get out.

Yep waiting in this front then gonna go try to poke a hole in a buck since does are untouchable for the 1st 10 days.

Going out of state this weekend to do some hunting. Weather is looking good. Hoping I can put some meat in the cooler.

Yea. I did a lot of scouting last weekend. Given that it was 86 degrees there wasn’t much hunting to be done.

I finally checked a camera I hung late august, today. I only went in with a hawk helium, saddle, and linemans belt as the wife and baby were in truck waiting to go to lunch. I walked in and found rubs where this camera used to be prior to new placement late august. I kept seeing rubs and was getting excited. I finally got to the tree (6” diameter), hung stick, attached LB and went up about 4 ft off the ground. I snapped the camera open and heard a crunch to my right, I looked over and there was a buck eating acorns at seriously about 15 yards from me. He just kept eating and looking up at me. I watched him for about 5 minutes until I reached for my phone since no one would believe me. He got weird and trotted away in direction I wanted to rehang cam. He never blew out or anything just disappeared slowly. I just pulled cam and left. Ever happen to anyone? I was wearing street clothes basically. Seemed healthy for cwd. Man if that was my buck encounter for season.

About to head out to some local public. I don’t have a buck pinpointed or even an area with good sign. But I cant kill one on the couch so I’m going to do the wander through the woods with a bow in my hand thing and hope I happen across something.

I don’t have any experience directly with that situation but I’d guess that if he wasn’t alarmed, he probably didn’t care.
