Tethrd One Stick Gen 3's - Season review so far

Beast sticks lock on the tree way better in my opinion, but I’m hoping these sticks are just fine. I also only way 148 pounds, maybe it makes a difference getting the tethrds to bite as hard.

I find that if I use my lineman's belt when climbing so I'm always leaning back and not grabbing the sticks with hands or standing over them that they tend to bite better. Climbing with my hands on the lineman's seems to push the teeth of the sticks into the tree more because my body is never parallel to the tree (what I meant by not standing over the sticks). This is with all sticks I've tried.

I think they bite just as well as a beast with a ropemod. Not quite as well as a truckers hitch but I wouldn’t expect it to.

Maybe try using a daisy chain truckers hitch on the ones instead if you are having issues?

They don't bite as good but probably 85% as good. Ive had no issues or concerns whatsoever so far

So I been playing this morning with my new sticks. Seem solid on the tree. I was getting 16’ with four sticks. Now I’m debating between a fifth stick or a two step aider for the bottom stick. I wish the steps were a touch bigger, but it’s not a deal breaker when you consider the overall stick. Maybe Tethrd will come out with a slightly larger step option for the guys who are not concerned with weight. Overall impressed and happy.

Switched my Gen 1 ONEs to daisy chains right after I read the truckers hitch trick…no problems after three seasons (2 or 3, can’t remember when they were released). Same with my platform. One of the best hacks I’ve learned on here!

Is there a video where I can see this trick, idk if I’ve ever looked into it.

how are you doing the hitch?

I’m thinking go around the tube to double to back on itself, find a loop on the hitch, then pull and anchor on the cleat?

Just use the dynalock tab as a versa button

The more I used them, the less concerns I have with anything. They've been perfect in almost every regard. I did have an unnerving incident with the backwoods aider for them. It's the aider that's similar to the versa aider. There was over 5 inches of webbing still coming out of the tri glide, and when I stepped into the aider with full weight it somehow slide through the tri glide and I fell about 2 feet. Luckily it was the first step and I landed straight on my feet. I was able to repeat it again. I epoxied mine now so it's fixed.

As soon as i got the Gen 1’s i set up the bottom stick as a backup one=stick with a cam cleat. Got BMG to sew one of his 3 step aiders onto the bottom step.

Usually just use the cleat and then a quick release half hitch if i have the slack in the tail end.

is a quick release half hitch one where you don't pull the tag end all the way through so it unties like a shoe lace?

Just ordered the 4 pack. Now just have to decide on what aider I’ll go what. Think I have it narrowed down to the Vitalground aiders or a Backwoods Versa Aider.

Cant use a versa aider with the one sticks. He has the GCone but the 2 and 3 step aider versions are very twisty and unstable IMO. I have the single step one I need to practice a bit more with. I was just using a loop of webbing last year that worked decent as a CAYG.

The backwoods single step is the one you want. Like enkriss said the ladder sucks. I would only just that one at ground level
