Tethrd One Stick Gen 3's - Season review so far

nylon or amsteel where step is contacted?

I rolled my own with 3/16” amsteel hitting stick and it isn’t fraying yet

went 3/16” because that’d be about impossible to slice thru in one hunt
Tubular webbing. Backwoods versa aider

Where did everyone buy their aiders from or did you make them? I like the double wrap Enkriss has going on and I’d like 18” or 20” step to step. Maybe I’m better off making my own?

I ordered from EWO the amsteel guy 17" and 17" dubblesteps. RDA has them but I needed 17" so they are the same as the one sticks.

Backwoods GC aider. 3 step for bottom stick and a 2 step to use on other sticks if I need to get higher. 3 steps get sketchy on the way down, so it stays on the bottom stick.

i prefer this style of aider because you don't have to fish around for it on the way up or down and it isn't girth hitched to your boot

the aider has the smallest wire gate climbing 'biner i could find and the whole thing stashes small enough to fit in a cargo pocket

Tubular webbing. Backwoods versa aider

as an experiment, i took some 1" nylon tubular webbing and sawed it back and forth on the edge of the bottom of the bottom standoff....30 seconds of that with moderate pressure and i was almost through 1 layer of the webbing tube...you could easily saw it in half in a few minutes......i remember you chamfered yours......i wish they'd rounded all the edges before anodizing

Just received my aiders in the mail today ordered Monday! View attachment 82073View attachment 82074
How high up the tree do you get with this setup?
I am currently using 4 full length lone wolf steps with no aider but do have a couple screw in steps to get me a little higher. I have been a little hesitant about aiders but yours looks more stable than others I have seen... I am sure it wouldn't work on my LW sticks but I would like to get down to 3 sticks.

I'm working on a project where I'm encountering some sharp edges I'm scared of wiring rubbing through. This stuff https://www.amazon.com/Electridct-S...ocphy=9024753&hvtargid=pla-343949159484&psc=1
might fit the bill for running aiders through. I doubt the steps will wear through this. I sourced mine locally but just wanted to add the Amazon link for people who may have a hard time finding it. It comes in muted colors too if ya look hard enough. You'll have to tape or heat shrink the frayed ends because the stainless wires are sharp.

I just used my 3 tehard one sticks yesterday with a 2 step amsteel aider on bottom and 2 single steps 3 stick's total about 18 to 20 ft I'm rappelling down really don't like aiders coming down at dark !!The only bad thing is having to stop and get my 3 sticks takes the fun out of rappelling!!!

Coming down at dark is what worries me most with trying the aiders. I don't rappel... yet but need to learn the Pros and Cons of rappelling, may be a great tool to add to the arsenal.

What’s everyone’s favorite aiders for these sticks?

Moveable loop of 1” tubular webbing. Been messing around with the single step Backwoods mobile aider but haven’t gotten comfortable using it yet. Gonna give it the college try in the off season.

Single step backwoods aider. It's not as good as a versa aider but definitely better than tying something to the stick

I think my sticks are arriving today, I’m interested to check them out. Are the factory ropes 7/64 or 1/8?

@enkriss stated 3 mm before, which is like 7.6/64".....you probably won't like the factory ropes....they are chinasteel copy which explains the metric system

i have the RDA ropes made for the One stick in 7/64" and like them a lot

if you have 7/64" and 1/8" amsteel laying around, then slide both in the slots and see what you think

the factory ropes do not seem larger than 7/64" because they are not as firm as real amsteel

The sticks came in and I must admit, at first glance, they’re impressive. I should have time tomorrow to check them out on a tree.

check the stand offs everywhere well....mine had a stray grind mark that was 1/16" deep and 1/8" wide that i didn't see for a week....was kind of hidden....exchanged them even though it was probably fine....not gonna pay over a bill for a stick if it comes dinged up

it looked like when they were grinding the anodizing off the tree teeth that someone banged the stick on the grinder accidentally
