Tethrd One Sticks Gen 2

Please don't cast stones at this newbie. First, Wow!!! I can't believe I just got read 35 pages about faulty sticks that I had considered buying until I reminded myself that my old Lone Wolf sticks have been working great plus I knew my wife would find out, not that I am scared. This is definitely a very passionate group with years of knowledge to share. That is one reason I joined the Saddle Hunting Community. I know this forum was mainly on the Gen 2 sticks but after reading all this, I am left wondering if there are any quality issues with other products from Tethrd. Again, I am new and my head is spinning just a bit but the main reason I got into saddle hunting was for the Safety aspect of constantly being attacked to the tree.... plus the freedom of just walking around the tree on my ring of steps smiling like a kid in a candy store. Back to the Safety, I just purchased my son and son-n-law their first Saddle Hunting kits from Tethrd. The kits included the Eberhart saddle, lineman's and Tether rope.......and.... Predator platform.
Should I be worried about the quality of the platform, has there been any issues with them? I probably should have sleep on this before posting but I have to know if I made a bad decision.

Lol this is the worst place on EARTH to ask that question. Your gear is all good, thousands of other perilla have the same stuff and successfully and happily hunt. Unless you have the first generation predator or the ONE sticks, I wouldn’t be worried about safety at all if I was you, more predators out there than any saddle platform on earth most likely and know known safety issues with their ropes or saddles. Happy hunting!

mostly agreed....but....i think everyone should have a skeptical eye towards all their life support equipment.....i say this to avoid complacency

How do you tell if you have a 1st generation predator? What was the issue with them?

You forgot the gen 2 one stick and the Skeletor brackets.

You really think they are going to reply to email? They probably have 100k in that inbox and just black holed that e-mail address.
I believe in making a reasonable attempt to contact them through normal business channels at minimal effort on my end. I'm not inclined to waste my time trying to get people who won't answer the phone to pick up unless there's a big win for me in it.

Their sewn products have mostly been fine, although some would argue that amsteel isn't the most appropriate material for how they use it.

Every mechanical product they've released has had safety concerns, and they haven't always been forthright in addressing them.

1st generation predator had a design weakness. They had "how to" videos posted on how to set it up in a tree...and those were silently ghosted once it became clear the platform wasn't up to it. Failures were shrugged off as "it's a positioning aid, not a stand". They'd replace platforms, but not before they broke, and only on request. Those needed a recall. I think they also failed in testing so they just revised the rating down...

In short they launched with a known defect that they refused to recall, on a "positioning aid" that their how-to videos showed Greg standing on with some slack in his teacher as he pivoted.

Gen1 one sticks were "held together with a structural weld" ... until they weren't. There was plenty of debate here on the viability of that before the sticks even shipped...so no way those failures would have blindsided them. Now this.

This is more concerning based on their history than as a one-off event. Lots of stick recalls out there from multiple brands. But I don't get warm fuzzies.

they know that when someone uses sticks or platforms that almost all users will introduce at least a small amount of slack (either accidentally or on purpose) and that if something suddenly breaks and you drop even 4 inch that that is going to scare the crap out of you and possibly hurt you a little (tear your shins up maybe if you are wearing low boots, etc)

also, a shame with the One stick is that it seems there are solutions that most people would accept and would probably work

spending all that money and see this high tech design and then it all is held together by roll pins....might be like buying a Ferrari and seeing a vinyl interior or something

So I've been pretty annoyed with this recall. I spent a lot of money on what I thought was going to be a great product. ( I'm new and was unaware of tetherd previous problems). I wanted to test these myself before I sent them back for return or refund. I "tested" them individually. I set stick at about 2' high and stood on each side of tube as normal. Then stood all weight on one side. Then jumped on both sides. Then finaly jumped on one side all weigh many times. The only thing that developed was a little wobble in one top step of one stick. With this I think I'm going to keep them. Practice all sept in backyard and move forward. After this however I'll be buying from other companies

Tethrd is "getting away" with this from a business angle because they are the most visible brand in something growing in popularity (saddle hunting).

So, new recruits to the hobby, like you, don't know about any of this stuff yet.

Also, they are kinda playing both sides: 1. premier, innovative company and 2. good ol' boys just starting that deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Both things have an expiration date

I'm new and it's already expired with me. Haha

 It's clearly a hunting stand platform:

sorry you and the others have to deal with this.. it’s annoying to see people spend good money on mediocre or worse products.

over on archerytalk, folks ask about saddle hunting and just assume that you should get a tethrd whatever, maybe how a new hunter would assume you should buy XYZ brand of bow (based upon visibility) if you want the very best

Looks like a solid group of guys on here need to put their heads and pennies together to give the people what they want and need! Gonna need some exceptional marketing as well.

If I’ve learned anything, it’s do the opposite of what this forum consensus says, and you’ll get rich.

Yeah like avoiding saddle hunting because most of us have a problem and spend too much money. Heck with a retirement fund!
