Tethrd One Sticks ..... take my money already

“Better” is relative to each consumer... but they’re half the weight of the beasts your not gonna get a real answer yet because no one has the tethrd sticks... lol they won’t sell us the damn things

Well yeah better is subjective ESPECIALLY on this website lol. I'm not the super weight saving type so I'm thinking I'm going to wait til you guys sell your beast sticks and grab some if I don't like drt/srt

I did not know this.. You're telling me that no one has any of these in their hands yet? I guess I assumed the first batch had gone out and we were waiting on the second batch..

If they're on back order, why not let them be ordered away?

they haven’t been available yet. Only the company elite have them. The prostaffs are still waiting for them also.

The LWCG ambush was designed to be as light as possible. People were unhappy because compared to the assassin it has a lot of flex.

The mantis saddle was designed to be as light as possible. It seems to be widely regarded as one of the less comfortable saddles.

The gen 1 predator was designed to be as light as possible. There were immediate issues with breakage.

The LWCG double steps were designed to be as light as possible. I have seen videos of them flexing an insane amount.

Squirrel steps were designed to be as light as possible. They are not as steady on the tree as something like an Ameristeps.

Carbon bolts were "discovered" by people emphasizing weight savings abovAmeristar.

Some of these products I've loved and some I've hated. I've been partially responsible for creating and popularizing some of them. I would love a lighter and more compact stick. I am leery at this point of being an early adapter when it's been proven that a product can survive lab testing but not the real world.

Yup and yup. I am worried about them banging around and getting a dent in the tube...I guess I can see how that could possibly cause the tube to fold once weight is put on a step over time. Maybe not or maybe they have tested that already. Maybe there is no chance of even denting the tube....all questions at this point.

I’m still too chicken to give carbon bolts a try but love my titanium bolts. I’m giving the titanium sticks a try also. It’s about weight but more like seeing if I like them enough to go five or six sticks instead of using an aider.

Not an expert here, but my understanding is that circular tubing has a higher resistance to flex and torsional forces lb for lb compared to square stock. Bending stresses on square will be contingent on where the force is applied, so it's variable.

The thing here is, that's lb for lb.

These sticks are light and they are titanium. Titanium is actually heavier than aluminum, but has advantages in strength. So, you're looking at a thin walled tube. Will it be a problem? IDK. I think the design is promising, but hunting comparisons are hard to make and I haven't seen complete design specs to attempt a better scientific understanding of presumed strength or weakness.

I presume they'll be a lot of saddlehunter chatter for and some against too.

I don't want to suggest any thoughts on a product I have no personal experience with as I haven't established any bonefides and been down that road recently. But, I personally have more difficulty gripping a round tube than a square one in poor conditions, from my professional experience, and I think that's the maybe minor drawback to me in the round vs square proposition.

For one sticking, I'd be interested in a bigger heavier version, not because I think the One Stick is a bad design. If I'm bringing one stick, I'm good with a big step, I'm a big boy, and I really like the tai fighter step design, only bigger.

For multi stick use, the weight savings sure seem nice but that's not something I'm needing.
 
One thing I wonder about with these sticks is how far out from the tree your foot is. Especially if you use the last stick for a platform.
I wonder how hard they bite the tree too.

When you one stick, weight is not the only thing. I will be buying one to try but I still wonder if I will prefer the EWO stick and scout
for the reasons mentioned.

For a multiple stick guy they look great.

I tried to look up titanium square tubing (1" and thin walled) but couldn't find it. Is it not made or are my google skills bad?

The idea was that you could buy the square tubing and then pair that with the EWO ultralight aluminum components.

But why? Titanium is more than double the weight and something like 11 times the cost of 6061.

I thought you could use a thinner walled tube and so pick up the weight savings that the Tethrd One enjoys.
