Tethrd Phantom

That’s one thing I think they should allocate resource to, lobbying for what’s necessary to educate and change hunting regulations to accept saddles as an adequate form of safety harness per state hunting regulations. Not sure if I worded it correctly, but in AL my understanding is that it is not sufficient to meet the safety harness requirement. Not sure how many states are in the same situation, but if it is a significant number then it may be worth exploring.

That would require he manufactures to work together and agree. Right now Aerohunter is using super heavy duty ropes suitable for a climbing expedition. Tethrd is being innovative, testing, and using materials that we’re considered unsafe or at least Untested just a few years ago. Trophyline just wants everyone to know they have a patent and some of the newer “saddle companies” are for ground use only.
Lobby? Alabama is the only state. They have some of the oddest laws in the nation. I mean you can’t even play dominoes on Sunday or flick your boogers into the wind!
Alabama may be the only state but I’ve heard of several municipalities and that ark systems that didn’t allow them.

I’m sure they’ve done forecasts and all the focus group discussions to predict sales numbers, but it is interesting to think about.

By the time this or any other commercial saddle is available for this season, how many people will purchase? It seems the market is saturated with saddles. That’s why I think the education tour they’ve got going is a smart way to bring in new users. That’s really going to make or break sales for them imo...new users.

I’ll buy one. I like to have more than one of everything. If something breaks or becomes unserviceable, I want a backup ready to go.

And as far as market saturation, perhaps your perspective is limited by the forum, and that’s understandable. I disagree though, and believe there is tremendous room for growth. I’ve started saddle hunting just this year. Everyone in my area who I have spoken with is not familiar. Some have heard of saddles, but that’s it. How many shops/stores have you gone in to and have been able to shop for tree stands? How many of those places offer saddles? There’s plenty of room for growth.

There’s more marketing happening now that’s directed towards public land hunting. That situation invites opportunities to sell lightweight and more mobile gear. The saddle fits that bill. Commercial saddle hunting makers have only scratched the surface of their potential, I believe.

Not everyone that hears about it, in my experience, shares the enthusiasm. Hunters can be a little stubborn. Most I know prefer to sit in their blind or pre set stand. Young public land hunters will eat up the idea of a saddle. Which one they buy will be influenced by education and aggressive marketing.

Just seems with all the new competition and used saddles in the wild, it just becomes more difficult to move new product without significant improvements and features. Especially considering that new equals more expensive.

Any different than new model year bows? There’s always an “upgrade”. I’m just thankful for the diversity in product choices, and I’ll continue to support the industry that gives me that variety. I encourage them to never be satisfied and continue to push their imagination to develop new gear. Is any of it necessary? Probably not, but being 100% honest, it makes what I do more fun, keeps it interesting, and gives me new things to look forward to.

Agree with everything you said. A new model bow can boast variables in speed, optics or other factors that increase efficacy. What does everyone think a new saddle (regardless of manufacturer) can offer in terms of "upgrades"? Safety and comfort are at the top of my list. Safety across the industry has been an easy to achieve goal since majority of safety is dependent on how it is used. Comfort is something that is different for everyone. Personally, I'm at a loss as to what would sway me back in to the saddle buying market at this point.

For those that have found a comfortable saddle that provides confidence in terms of safety in the tree, what is going to make you buy another? Is it just saddle love and wanting the new shiny thing? The only thing I can see other than the promise of comfort is some sort of gear carrying integration ala yarak and perch.

FWIW, the Tethrd Mantis is my first saddle, so buying another saddle will give me a few things: backup gear; a basis for comparison; and the ability to provide industry support through end-user feedback based on personal experiences.

I was about to pull the trigger on a Mantis, I may need to to wait and see what next week unfolds.

It’s weird when I first joined this forum it was hard to find saddles, the guidos and evo was the only commercially made ones and the good ole sit drag. Now it seems every couple month news of another one.

I think this is good for the consumer. Especially with multiple well thought out products from competing companies hit the market. May make the prices more tolerable.

I was thinking about this earlier. Do you think they will discontinue the mantis? I remember the US sewing sources were maxed out at some point according to their website, hence the outsourcing of accessories.

Based on that it seems it would be difficult to maintain 2 maybe 3 saddle lines with the everhart saddle. Assuming more sewing places haven’t been found.

something tells me the have had phantoms in production while mantis were still being produced so they will be setting on some when they release. A few of the pics I’ve seen on some of the Instagram post look like production models instead of prototypes.

would help explain the continued wait times for the mantis

After all the “when’s my saddle shipping” chaos that went on at the start of the mantis I would doubt they would handle this the same way.
