Tethrd Predator CFX

…that previous comment…

The part about the bushings “settling“ is about my best guess as to what breaking in a CF product would possibly allude to. If you read about CF bike frames popping and squeaking, it’s almost always sourced to flex about connection points. But the strong recommendation is universally to keep them clean of mud and dirt and water. Whereas Tethrd is saying the platform likes to be dirty.

As well, bike frames are different in that they’re laid up. I’m not sure what layers Tethrd is talking about with a forged product. It’s very peculiar.

Just got here. Initial impression, it feels cold, not sure it’s going to heat my home at all, unclear if it will be warmer in the woods on my feet (I kid, I kid).

Fits well in the Trophyline Sumpter pack. Real world testing coming soon hopefully. Weight was as advertised as others have shown.IMG_5851.jpeg

Joking aside that’s a slick setup

Can anyone verify UV effects on carbon Fiber? Do you have to replace your platform after 5 years as well? Are they dated?
Argh, I'm only here to provide technical data......most regular CF cannot be exposed to sunlight directly because the UV rays will destroy the epoxy resin rapidly and thus make it weaker. Also black colored objects absorb heat quicker thus speeding up the degradation.
Obviously Tethrd has claimed a new original material as their matrix so I can't assume anything about it.
It'll be very interesting to ask them if the platform is paintable, because regular CF needs a primer on it in order for the paint to adhere.
Regular CF only degrades at the sun exposed surface, and it does take several weeks of sun exposure to notice. Our cf airplanes are outside most of the time thus primer and paint are used.
I don't think you'll have your CFX platform in direct sunlight long enough to notice anything for several years.
My main cf platform i have been using for 4 years now has yet to show sun exposure wear, even though its not painted. I do use a very thin foam mat on the top as an abrasive(dirty boots) and sun protector.

So I used it all weekend (with the included strap). Initial thoughts:
I did toss it on a tree in the backyard and do the walk around that was recommended on the included card. I did it at basically a foot off the ground and I feel that is a good thing to do, it did make some settling type sounds. Those went away after a couple trips around it putting pressure in all edge areas and I did not have it make a sound since while I hunted on it.
It wouldn’t take much of a search to find that I said on at least one occasion I was happy with the standard predator size and didn’t see a need for an XL. After using this I see more value in the XL. Considering I can have the size for the same weight I’m probably a convert. I was able to more easily get to weak side shots and overall it was more comfortable for me with bigger feet and cold weather boots.
As far as biting into the tree it did very well. I used it on 3 trees in the woods of varying sizes and had no issues as well as a brief setup on smooth bark in my yard. I did toe hook it as recommended but I have always done that so it was no change for me there. It was very stable for me in standard positions (I probably sit 75% of the time at least and lean 25% or less, feel I’m more still) as well as on both sides of the platform while I was keeping the tree between myself and deer or debating a shot, even on a tree that was on the small size to what I’d prefer.
Obviously I can’t speak to long term durability but the first 12ish hours I spent on it lived up to expectations I had and it was worth the purchase for me, I’ll be continuing to use it moving forward.

I'm a little disappointed no one has killed a booner from it yet.. I thought the deer would come running to check out the CF platforms as well. I heard some states were gonna ban them because they are to lethal and offer an unfair advantage to the hunter.
No Booners but the bucks were coming from everywhere to see it @MattMan81 lol Sorry for the picture quality, good videos to show my kids but just grabbing some screenshots cause we all like to see deer I think.
