Tethrd Skeletor Sticks

Not even commercially available yet and we’re seeing bent standoffs on the Skeletor? I’m curious how long that YouTube video posted above will be posted until he’s asked to delete it.

It’s more frustrating to me because I’d definitely be interested in trying out the One Stick and other Tethrd products, but I’m not willing to pay to be a test dummy. I did that with the Gen1 Predator platform, I’ll pass.

Hopefully the bent Skeletor standoff is an isolated incident or one that can be easily amended.

Bent standoff. On something that isn’t commercially available yet.

Let that sink into your mind as you are setting a stick 22’ up int the air and mid-transition from your top stick to your platform/ROS, etc….

He admits in the video that he didn’t set the stick right. I just received the Skeletors. I’m impressed so far. They grab the tree really good and I like the step distance from the tree. I really like their dyna tab too or whatever they call it. I have beast sticks too and so far they are on par with the beast sticks. I might actually like the Skeletors better. Time will tell how they will hold up.

These are leverage stick with a few improvments. I'd guess they are made by the same company overseas when it was owned by leverage. I Loved my leverage sticks. They are tested and proven not a fan boy here just stating the obvious. Gregs video even says they are the same design leverage used. Ill continue to use my novix but wouldn't mind to get my hands on these.

Broken Predator platforms, failed glue and a separated Tethrd OneStick DynaLite tab, Beast stick with a step that snapped, parted LW climber belts.....all on commercially available options.

The bent standoff isn't good, but I've seen stuff that worries me way more...but...I'm not too impressed with how Tethrd handles "when things go wrong".

All in all, it's a smart design they've adopted. But then...

I haven’t even been notified of shipping yet. Hope I made the first 1000.

Is the correct way to set any stick to grab from bottom and pull down? I always just pull down a bit on the top set. I use stock strap on TL doubles if that makes a difference.

Maybe I’m the oddball, but I hope the directions on how to set them is clear when you open the box. People still have to provide online guidance on how to toe hook their platform.

Not really. He supposes it's user error, noting he didn't receive a set of instructions for these prototype sticks.

Do yours have such stick setting instructions?

How far are the steps from the tree (aka what's the standoff distance)?

It really depends on the standoff. If it’s an aggressive standoff then the bottom of the stick needs pulled out then down. Lone Wolf and Trophyline sticks have the same standoff and they’re not that aggressive so you can just pull down. Plus those standoffs pivot.

Not sure if I got instructions but I did see a video on their website on how to properly set the sticks. I’m guessing they made that video when this guy in the video saw the issue. In Tethrds video it says to pull out on the bottom and then pull down. I’m not sure what the standoff distance is. I can take a measurement tomorrow if I remember. The sticks did come with warning tags and a thing you can scan. I imagine it might take you to the video on their website. I took them off and threw them away, I never paid attention to them.

Tree to middle of the step/post 3-3/8”, tree to the end of the step is around 4-3/4”. That’s on a big tree too. One that I have to put the rope on the end of the stick to barely be able to reach the rope.

Thanks.

With all these informative videos....this info seems elusive.

At closest they seem on par with...TN sticks...Hawk...Beast.

But 4-3/4 on the diagonal is much more substantial.

Yeah, there’s plenty of foot room. Way more then the beast sticks. It does kind of force you to have duck feet with how it angles out but it’s still comfortable.

Sold my Beast Sticks and ordered these. The folding steps, rope attachment system and stacking pins are what I like. I was tired of snagging my steps and having to strap my steps together and tie up the loose ends.

Right, but the Tethrd One Stick steps are angled and not much further from the tree at their max than the inner spacing of the Skeletor. Imagine that.

Yeah, they should’ve added a few more ounces to make the standoff deeper rather then worrying about getting it to 1lb. I’d much rather have 1lb 3oz stick and more foot room. That’s why I was intrigued about the Skeletors, I could tell it had more foot room and I liked the features it has.

I’m tempted to sell my beast sticks and buy a backup Skeletor set.

Looks like they put a gr8 bolt through the DynaLock tab too. That's a huge step in the right direction.

[And no Buffer!]
