"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

I keep 2 game bags & a contractor bag in the bottom of my pack, use the gutless method & put one side in each game bag. Then I just use the contractor bag as a liner & place both game bags in the pack leaving the contractor bag open & the treehouse lid open as well. Just gotta get creative with strapping the stuff that was inside to the back of the pack. Usually I just have a jacket or vest in the open center section so it’s easy to strap on the outside the 3 inside compartments still function as normal ( for me one has a thermos/water bottle, another with camera gear & arm, the last one has first aid, kill kit, saw, pruners & tree strap)

That’s very creative haha, but sounds like a lot of hassle. Is the opening big enough for so much meat? And doesn’t it spill over? How do you keep it straight?

Great to know. Would it be possible for you to take a picture of the bottom panel and give me measurement of the opening

I’ll be happy to. What exactly are you referring to by the bottom panel?

Thanks! Im talking about the meat shelf at the bottom of the frame. Im thinking about fitting my bow through the small opening. Would love a picture to see if it’s possible.

I had a extra Hayley Strategic Flat pack plus laying around from my SWAT
days before I retired. My predator platform fits perfectly in the pack and I can strap 4 Beast sticks on the back with ease. I use the straps that came with the sticks and store them in the outside zipper compartment. The set up light and streamlined perfect for running and gunning.

My second setup is for when I have to pack out. It’s a KUIU carbon frame, I removed the 3600 pack and attach the meat hauler and stalker 500. My platform and LWCG minis strap easily to the frame and still allow me to have a heavy load attached and carry with ease. The stalker 500 carry’s only essentials. This setup is very light and streamlined it feels like nothing is on your back!

This really intrigues me. I like the modularity of it.
Is that the Tethrd Predator pack with the Spanker attached? What shoulder straps are you using? This is an older post. Anything you have learned you would like to share since?
I ran something similar last year and was very “floppy” to me. But carried great once it was filled. I was also still using the predator straps so I’m assuming upgraded straps might help it sit a bit better to.o.

Just got a TideWe and the bow straps on nice! Not sure if I want to use a pull up cord or just unstrap it at the top. I’m currently climbing with the pack on my back,
Pulling up bow with a cord. I have also been pulling my pack off at the base of the tree to get ready to climb! I’d like to get to the tree, strap on my one stick and start climbing. I’ve been trying to walk with the saddle on, but finding a happy place with the leg straps has been the challenge.

I was carrying a heavy duty garbage bag in case f success, but got a 24liter tac sac I can attach to the outside….pretty sweet and doesn’t weight any more than the trash bag.

Venture 1800…Really liking this day pack. Able to pack solitude jack inside. Strap predator to outside, then add sticks to it. When at tree, undo sticks from pack and start climbing. Get to height, hang pack and undo predator to set. Once all settled and cooling down, take jacket out of pack. Plenty of pockets for various gadgets. I wear Recon to and from tree but I’m sure I can strap it on also.

Here is the tide we with my bow attached. My platform is inside, but I’m gonna try a short walk test with it hooked on my side like it is while climbing. The plan is to walk up to tree with everything ready to climb. Hang stick as it’s the only thing I’ll be carrying. Then tighten leg straps and get on ladder. Last time when I wanted one more move, I went ahead and attached my platform at about chest high, then raised my stick to be level with it. I found it easier to match my stick to my platform rather than platform to stick.

I found my unicorn. Discontinued after 1 or 2 years but the Easton Full Bore XT 3600 let’s me walk in completely hands free. Bow is inside the ‘wings’ and instead of using the ‘cargo webbing’ I took the ghooks and put them on some 3/4 webbing o strap my platform and 2 sticks the the outside. I can put layers in between if needed. Has enough room to store 40’ or RescTech and all my doohickeys I carry. Pack is light and the frame allows me to climb with my bow attached. I don’t have any pics of it loaded but here are some from the Google.

I plan to pack out, not dragging anything. Since my pack is kinda small, I bought a 24liter tac sac that I can attach to the outside. It replaced carrying a heavy duty garbage bag and doesn’t weight much more……hope I get to fill it this year!
