The Shame Thread

I can no longer live a lie. It’s eating me up inside and I feel like I have to be truthful and come forward and not hide it.
I bought a tree stand harness. There, I said it. It’s out in the open now. Whew!!
Seriously tho the parcels I hunt I share with another fella and they have preset stands and the way the stands are oriented if you were in a saddle your back would be pointed right at the travel corridor. I tried it and got busted so many times figured I had to come up with something different.
There now, the bbq is prepped. Prepare the roast!

One of them deer view mirrors might have been cheaper.

took a shot yesterday at a doe i probably shouldnt have taken and clean missed her....had tuned out the sound of squirrels rustling in th leaves when the steps suddenly became heavier and with more purpose....as soon as i looked, a nice doe was right below me at around 10 yards. I was only maybe 14' up but had excellent cover in a thick area. she came behind me which i didnt expect and i had very few openings for a shot...she got broadside at 15 yards but too many branches. im full draw on her watching her, waiting for the shot when another doe comes in same way the first one did but probably closer....crap, dont look up doe! so now im at full draw with another doe right below me....doe # 1 finally gets into an opening and gives me something...take the shot...hit branch and arrow lands right below her.....fml. they didnt spook too bad and left the area. i waited until things cooled down a bit before i got down so i didnt shake that spot up too bad, but damn, story of my life.

Last Saturday I missed a buck at 11yds....would have been the my first buck ever....

Right over the back... Bounded to 30 and sat there long enough for me to reload.... then slowly walk off nonchalant before I could get on him again

well since this is indeed the same thread, i guess i can share one more lol....missed the biggest buck i ever saw in Illinois. shot right over him and probably gave him a haircut. was on the ground sitting on a corn field. he surprised me and just flat out mis ranged him, first time ever hunting an ag field.

Was actually 2 weeks ago....hahaha... all the weekend blending together

I think it was a combination of climbing higher than normal, the buck being so close the angle was extreme, and I think I dropped my bow arm instead of bending at the waist....I was definetly ashamed of myself

If we "like" something in this thread, it's understood to be a "I feel bad for you, sorry mate" type of thing right?
This is not the feel sorry for anyone thread. Liking a post in this thread to me is like showing respect for them owning their mistakes, screw ups, bad decisions, hiccups, and faults and learning from them. Or it might be like a, “been there, done that” kind of thing.

Had to trade in my small bachelor suv for a family minivan for my wife. In exchange I started driving the FJ Cruiser that she got brand new as her sweet 16th birthday for work. My usual commute to work is almost an hour each way. Everyone always comments on how cool the FJ I drive was, but I spent 3 years complaining to my wife about it and trying to convince her to let me get a logical car. Finally convinced her, got myself a used Honda Civic Hatchback that I'm getting 38 MPG on, compared to the 18 MPG that the FJ was getting (also it required premium gas only). You know what? I'm going to rub it in her face every time I get because the money that I am saving from gas switching work car actually make up the monthly payment!

I don't care that every one think the FJ is a cooler or 'manlier', my 2017 Civic has heated seat, turn camera, smooth as butter on the road, and sunroof.

I'm with you brother!

BLASPHEMY!!!

Got rid of my Titan and now drive an Outback
I love my forester, but if I hadn't gotten a steal of a deal on it I'd be driving an Outback. 3000lb towing capacity is twice as nice as 1500.

When things get a little less crazy I'll probably trade in the Forester for an Outback and look for a little plug-in hybrid.

Nothing wrong with a beater daily driver, but I’d be taking the FJ hunting. I’ve been stuck twice in my civic. I do dislike the stock colors they came in however (bright blue and yellow). The tan one was probably the best.
