Here is a few Ideas of how to get into Deer Hunting and not break the bank
Deer Hunting does not need to be expensive. This great hobby can be kept very economical and cost friendly. Do we all think and do that? Hell NO lmao But It really can.

Whether you want use a blind, tree stand, or the newer style tactic that I use and love, The tree saddle You do not need to go out and buy high dollar equipment to get started.

I get it, “You get what you Pay for” but like any hobby, upgrade your equipment over time and you will build a system of equipment that fits you. Using that equipment will eventually become automatic or like muscle memory.

Here are some great products I found right on amazon that will work just fine and, will get anyone started in deer hunting.

Tree Stand

https://amzn.to/43QNWFK

Ladder Stand

Climbing Stand

Climbing Sticks

https://amzn.to/3N16dJs

Ground Blind

I used this blind several Times and Have Harvested many deer out of this

https://amzn.to/42uH8ws

Beginner Tree saddle Kit ( this is in my opinion a Beginners kit)

https://amzn.to/3MWZWyI

Tree Stand Harness I used this until I got My first tree saddle back in 2007

https://amzn.to/42MfQlr

headlamp that I use and works great Hands free is always a plus when climbing or descending any tree or ladder stand

Blood tracking headlamp which is also good when hands free and It is Rechargeable

https://amzn.to/43wG0tl

Weapons are a bit of a personal choice and I really can’t nor probably would never be allowed to post anything weapon related on most platforms

Anyone interested in some great working peoples blue collar tee shirts, Hats, Hoodies, or Bumper Stickers, hit the link below and check out Armed American Supply for deals they have going on

It appears most, if not all, of the links contained in this thread are Amazon affiliate links. For full transparency, are you going to update this thread and the first post to indicate that when someone makes an Amazon purchase via one of the links you posted in this thread, you get a commission off that purchase?

I see for some reason the hate for me still steams within you.
Its all good though its comical.

if your worried about me making mere cents on a dollar than complain and have the post removed.

I guess I could sit down and figure a real number if I was real bored but just rounding ruff numbers in my head.....

Wicking base layer, wool pants, fleece/wool shirt, liner and wool socks, wool mid, insulated bibs zippered at the leg, water shedding outer, and wool hat/glove/scarf.....easy under 200 bucks and majority of those items are sold 2 or 3 at a time. So for under200 u can potentially be fully outfitted, with 3 complete outfits....and the quality of the materials/workmanship are either on par or superior to the name brand high dollars stuff.

The hunting industry would go belly up if they depended on me for sales. I think the best camo is one color shirt and another for pants, and maybe another for a hat. It doesn't blend together @ a distance like camo does. I've taken a lot of animals while never investing in the popular camo companies.

Most of my camo came from the end-of-season clearance bins at Walmart. I only wear it hunting, only wash it in scent-free stuff, avoid stopping at gas stations in it, etc. I don't care how much mud or blood or whatever gets on it.
That said I'm a Midwest big woods hunter. I'd have a different attitude towards technical hunting clothing if I was climbing mountains after elk.

If I cloned myself and that version of me committed to ground hunting, never went up a tree, I’m honestly not sure that I would outhunt that clone guy. Yeah I’d have a better view, but especially if he used a Mini crossbow he’d probably bring home just as much venison, and cheaper.

I definitely wouldn't teach my clone to hunt or ever bring up that subject

Yeah I think the cheapest way to hunt is a cheap crossbow and a good chair. You can get a camping chair for like $6 at Academy. Don’t need a $300 one. You can get a crossbow capable of killing a deer for around $300. They usually come with a couple of arrows. Otherwise Bloodsport arrows are decent for the money. eBay Swhackers or Chinadermics are about a $1 each. In place of camo you can get a cheap leafy suit. North Mountain makes a pretty nice one.

I mean... a pawnshop rifle or shotgun can be had pretty reasonably. I killed my first deer with a .30-30 I paid a buddy $125 for, and it came with 2 partial boxes of cartridges. A new compound bow or crossbow is probably on par with a new rifle or shotgun, but the used market for long guns is huge, and a savvy shopper can make meat for under $200.

ETA: I've loaned out deer rifles to friends, as well. If you're going through a divorce and hard-up, or hunting-curious, I'll loan you my dirty-30 or NEF and a box of shells. I might ask for something of value to hold as collateral against misbehaving and losing my rifle. I'm sure many here would extend similar offers to trusted acquaintances. So that's one expense that an intending novice hunter could avoid, at least for their first season.

Fair point. I used my brother’s hand me down bolt action 20 gauge for a couple of years untilI I saved up and bought a Mossberg 500 from Walmart.
Only issue is that they can’t use that rifle during archery season but most places allow archery during gun season. My hunting season was extended quite a bit with a bow.

Cheapest way to chase whitetail is stick to the 2 legged type! Sure they may cost you a house and a kiddo or 2 but they’re still a heck of a lot cheaper than the 4 legged ones ESPECIALLY the 4 legged ones with big old antlers!

A $100 recurve from Craigslist, a handful of arrows and a quiver is all the gear needed. Match that with a year of practice shooting, some books and YouTube and you’re in the game for $300. All the gear in the world won’t do you a darn bit of good without some woodsmanship. Too much emphasis gets put on gear and gadgets. Get a basic bow or gun and put in the time to learn about deer.
