Here is a few Ideas of how to get into Deer Hunting and not break the bank
Deer Hunting does not need to be expensive. This great hobby can be kept very economical and cost friendly. Do we all think and do that? Hell NO lmao But It really can.

Whether you want use a blind, tree stand, or the newer style tactic that I use and love, The tree saddle You do not need to go out and buy high dollar equipment to get started.

I get it, “You get what you Pay for” but like any hobby, upgrade your equipment over time and you will build a system of equipment that fits you. Using that equipment will eventually become automatic or like muscle memory.

Here are some great products I found right on amazon which (I am an affiliate link marketer for probably like most with any type of hunting) content. These will work just fine and, will get anyone started in deer hunting.

One way to get a good bow for cheap is go to ebay and look at new in box Bear flagship bows. You'll find them that are 1 to 3 years old but new. Just make sure the seller is legit. It seems Bear overproduces given demand and they just don't hold their value like a Mathews, etc.

You can get a bow that was around $1,000 retail for under $500 and it comes in the box with tags, etc.

PS

A good way to find them is to look at online catalogs, etc. to find what was the Bear flagship bows in, let's say, 2021 (because the names change so much). Then specifically search ebay for that model. Otherwise, you'll get swamped with hits.

I did that last year with my new bow That is an expedition I got it 1/2 price and it is the best bow I have ever shot in almost 30 years of bow hunting

The climbing stand hyperlink doesn't seem to work for me

Realistically the cheapest way to hunt is to hunt from the ground. Build a ground blind out of sticks and detritus if you want, or just use natural cover/be still, but we don't *have* to be elevated to do it. I'm not in much of a place to give advice but 1/3 of my deer (1 out of 3 lol) was from the ground, two from a tree. I might be spending more time on the ground this year, but to be honest, I just kinda like climbing and hanging out up in a tree.

Kept bringing me here:

Clothing:

I use a lot of hiking brands and those brands can be found on super clearance at

steep and cheap
mountain steals
sierra trading post
campsaver
and probably others

The only pieces of clothing I feel justify a high price tag (for me) are boots, rain gear, and down mid layers. Everything else is synthetic stuff I found on sale. Oh, I have a few semi-expensive hats and gloves too.

MidwayUSA store brand clothing goes on crazy sale sometimes (summer) and is really good quality for the price. They basically rip off Under Armour's designs and materials and the quality is the same but it's half the price or less.

Agreed. For someone who can only afford essentials, he/she shouldn't wait or over extend the budget. Just go out and enjoy hunting. Still hunting and tracking and spot and stalk are some of the most enjoyable ways to hunt and to explore and learn an area.

Good stuff! Well chosen inexpensive items, that are of reasonable quality too. The only thing I would add is a good old brown, tan or camouflage burlap sheet wrapped around some sticks placed in the ground about 3 feet in front of you works great!

If you come across a climbing gear clearance sale you can find good deals on ropes, cordage, 'biners, and an RCH. DRT/SRT/2TC up the tree; no added hardware or expense. Add a fleece saddle and you can get up a tree; use a branch as a platform. Takes more technique and effort and knowledge, but that's the tradeoff to spend less money.

Camo is unnecessary. Nice to have, certainly, but humans have harvested game without it since we were proto-humans. Thrift shops have plaids and khakis. I've got a WW1-era novel by a Navy officer who described boiling white cotton uniforms in coffee to dye them khaki in anticipation of the Veracruz landings pre-WW1.

You need good boots. Barring that, good insoles in good-enough boots.

If you're in the field during rifle season you'll need orange. Thankfully orange vests/hoodies/t-shirts can be found pretty cheaply.

Last year I started moving away from camo. I started using more tans and browns with emphasis on breaking up 3d outline. I've noticed I can get by with more movement that goes undetected.

A walk around Goodwill will get you tons of great clothes for hunting or everyday life. If you want to get into traditional archery Amazon has some amazing package with everything you need. Ask even the most hardcore traditional bow hunters, they will admit that CNCed bows today shoot just as well as their expensive custom.

Camofire routinely have Hawk sticks for under $100.

true, safer also for a newb or anyone, really

if someone took a few doe from the ground with a bow at first, then adding an elevated mobile setup would make them a real terror on the deer

Lmao.
Yea man thats a sweet climber man and a company which makes probably some of the best equipment in the business.
I own their .5- double steps- camera arm, undercover trail camera, and some clothes. All is high dollar and in my opinion for more advanced guys who have a bit of knowledge on certain products.
i would never recommend any equipment like this to any new hunter or anyone thinking of trying deer hunting
