Pick your savings on the harness:

As low as $35 S/M at Poshmark or $54 L/XL at Mercari, if you trust those vendors.

$99 through Walmart

$120 at Eders

In other words, shopping around saves $$.

Another tip:
Black Friday

Wait for the seasonal sales and you can often get something that's a step up, or get an item you'd otherwise forgo.

Where the skys are so blue!

I like this thread.

The buck above was killed in the clothes you see me wearing. Black Friday Basspro flannel shirt (maybe $9.99) and some clearanced camo pants. Hat was a thrift store find. Canoe was a $200 craigslist special towed on top of a '96 gmc suburban with like 240k miles on it.

Gun was a $60 single shot 20 gauge. And when I say $60, I mean $60. I had 3 twenties in my pocket and a guy came in wanting to trade it in. It wasn't worth enough to fool with according to the manager, so I caught the guy in the parking lot and made my offer.

Stand? Just what my momma gave me.

Stands in my memory as one of my all-time favorite hunts. It cost me next to nothing.

Yeah, I have a bunch.
But I have been considering ending Pods for a Cause because there just hasn't been very many guys asking for them the last couple years.
You guys generated a slew of contributions in the beginning but not so much lately.

That’s a bummer but understandable, had a good run. Personally I joined after you quit taking PayPal (sound reasoning for doing so) and I don’t even have a checkbook anymore so I didn’t think it was an option for me. I did however just reread that thread and realize money order was/is an option so that excuse is out. Seeing that total climb in the thread was downright heartwarming.

The first 15 years I bow hunted (70's and 80's) I had a bow/arrows, one pair of camo denim coveralls and boots. If there was a climbable tree near where I wanted to hunt I climbed it, if not, I sat on the ground. I wouldn't recommend just climbing a tree to anyone anymore given the fact that are many inexpensive tree stand options now (I bounced often in those early days :tearsofjoy: ) but hunting from the ground is a definitely a viable option. I've killed several deer from the 5 gallon bucket with a cheap foam pad in my day. The only real cost to start hunting is the cost of your weapon and there are good inexpensive options available.

So many different options from equipment and tactics these days compared to when i started in the early 90’s. Some give you advantages then some are just gimmiks.
It doesnt have to be expensive because alot of these big influencers will try to talk you into buying either their gear or a company they rep.
Keep it cheap and enjoyable.

And now you carry a $225 dollar folding chair into the woods after beaching your comfortable john boat with mud motor.... smh.... you've changed

I rationalize my chair as being a $25 deer chair, $25 deer hauling pack, $25 duck chair, $25 squirrel chair, $25 fishing seat, $25 camp chair, $25 guest chair, $25 office chair, and a $25 back porch lounge chair.

And I only have to store 1 chair in my little house. Super frugal.

But……..You have more than one fancy chair depending on whether you want to sit 2.75 inches higher or lower at any given moment (sad emoji) (you’ve lost touch with your roots emoji)

But I only paid for one! So I have 2 chairs, and they're really $12.50 chairs instead of $25 chairs.

The math on this is indisputable and I must retract my claim. Although I’m sure you will pull a kyler soon and sell off all of your hunting belongings to fund your child which truly will revert your back to your roots. Dibs on your CZ
