Congrats.
I never heard of a year and a half old button buck.
Me either.
Who is good at aging jaw bones. His body size and head shape represented a 1.5 year old for the area.

Those look like fawn teeth to me, but I need to look it up to be certain. Gotta go right now. I will look later.Me either.

I know nothing about aging deer from teeth but those teeth do look sharp like baby teeth to me but I have no authority in the matter. Either way good job on the trad kill. It is not an easy thing to do I missed one yesterday evening at 10 yards. I’m wondering if I know what the heck I’m doing after missing. Those look like fawn teeth to me, but I need to look it up to be certain. Gotta go right now. I will look later.

Looks like fawn to me. He didn’t replace his p3 tooth yet. Damn. With his body size, he had a head start from the rest of the fawns. What’s done is done. I still enjoyed the whole experience.
Fawns should have 5 teeth if they are born on time and shot in the fall. I see the 6th tooth (back molar) is there, but hasn’t fully emerged yet into the 3 cusps. His third tooth is still tricuspid but is worn down substantially, typical of a 1.5 y/o. I’d say he was a fawn born a couple months earlier than average. Also, depending on where you harvested this deer, the breeding/fawning
seasons can vary from the norm up here where I am in VA.

This is correct. They don't replace the P3 tooth until 2.5 years old. The description is above the corresponding picture. At 1.5 they still have a three-part P3 tooth but have six full teeth erupted.

My early November 2019 longbow kill. As you can see, the Buckstache is still running strong.
Congrats on the trad kills. I'm still out there trying with the recurve, first season and it's definitely proven to be more of a challenge! lol
Congrats @denots.Finally I get to post up my first trad kill! One hell of a way to wrap up the season.

That's it... I've been on the fence about it for a few years, but this sealed it for me. I'm wearing a bandana into the woods next season. Here's a turkey and a hog from a couple of years ago.View attachment 12553View attachment 12554
