Ultra Light Climbing method 2.0

Ok quick rig to get the feeling. Leg loop does add stability. I didn't climb, just hung out a bit. Felt like loop was cutting off circulation, probably not an issue if moving to unload it. I used a 4" or so wide loop, which should minimize the issue. Ill have to experiment more when my rope gets here.20201008_191640.jpg

Man I miss those chickens!!!

Well done brah! Yo, when you going to send me some Hilo Hattie so I can TP like the rest of these dudes? :D

Not sure if we got one on Kauai. If I find one and it’s not expensive I’ll get you some TP wear. Or Kauai red dirt tshirt, Red dirt dyed shouldn’t have you looking like a disco ball.

Here’s how I’m climbing now. I use two of these when I need to go around limbs. I also don’t climb with my safeguard anymore, just use a schwabisch hitch on the ascent and hook up my safeguard for the descent.

So the linemans belt replaces the leg strap. Have you tried keeping it attached, just loosen it and use it as a handle to advance? Climbing was silent, but I heard the clicking of the carabiner.
Good job.

Yah that linesman was a lil short so I had to unclip it to move my foot into the foot loop. I’ve since made a longer linesman and don’t unclip just loosen and move. It’s even more quiet with just a schwabisch and no safeguard.

Haha! It's up near Lihue. Love the dirt shirts too though. Gotta wash them by hand the first couple washes or the rest of your stuff will be pink ;)

Since you're using a lineman's and not leg hooking the tree, you could probably add another foot loop to your lower tether so you can use both feet to stand. I add another loop to my lower tether if I know I'm going to be going around multiple branches. Using a single foot loop like we do to stand up and move your tether is one thing, standing for an extended period of time while you move your lineman's and tether above a limb is something else! Using two relieves a bit of that uncomfortable feeling.

May not be an issue since your foot loop has that garden hose on it.

So the the hook up under your thigh (above your knee) - its just for comfort when using the one leg to hook the tree method?
Quicker than using a LB.
