Versa/Versa Lite Strap!!!

I can see why guys say it’s pricey when you’re going to drop another $100 on your stick set up just to replace straps or ropes that already work, although maybe not quite as well. Some of us have less than $100 in our sticks to begin with. It’s just a matter of what we want to do to our setups and what it’s worth to us. I don’t think those thinking it’s pricy are trying to be disrespectful. This whole being an outdoorsman is pricy.
Speaking of that, I’m ready to drop some coin on some K2 climbing spurs.

@PJC and @flinginairos pretty much just summed up both sides of this topic. Well said by both.

At the end of the day the Versa Strap is a "want" not a "need". One thing I resigned myself to a long time ago when it comes to my hunting/fishing gear, "you want what you want". That's it. I don't own or buy junk. I buy or build the best gear I can afford. The best gear is not always the most expensive, but in most cases it is. If it's something I want, that I can't build, I WILL find a way to afford it. If you just accept this sickness that we all have and embrace it, you'll be ahead in the long run! Just my opinion.

Edit: The sickness will try to convince you it is always a "need"! LOL

This seems to be spreading A LOT

Another idea:
Why not make 2 different size loops at the end that stays on the versa button. If it doesn’t line up using the 1st loop, use the second loop that will offset it a little where it falls out once you wrap around the tree.

On the newest version there are loops running continuous throughout the full length of the strap. I believe what you're suggesting might already work on it since there is a slight difference in size from the end loop and the first "running" loop next to it. I'll have to look into that. There might be another adjustment to the design that can easily be made.

To adjust length setting you could also put the loop over the button, come down the side of the stick and behind the stick then around the tree. That might change the lineup to the slot you need to get it tighter. Just a thought, haven't tested but another option if the traditional way doesn't line up to the slot you need. The design is good, don't think it needs changing. Just a little outside the box thinking and it seems there are already some ideas her to accomplish the line up issue some have had. I like the twisting of the strap idea.

I like the idea of wrapping it around the post once. Seems it would be easier than twisting it a bunch of times. But maybe not with some practice and a method.

OK my take on this (and I have not ordered these yet but plan on it) .... I can DIY most anything but - My time is worth something to me. I currently make about $45/hr.... and that is work time. My hunting time is far more precious and I would say worth 500/hour to me. So I learned a long time ago, that while I could make most things I don't have time to DIY everything. So for me this is a very reasonably priced product that would return to me at least 1-2 hours of hunting/scouting time. I'd say they are well worth the cost.

Yeah my hunting time went basically went to zero when I started making these on November 26th. I've had one 2 hour evening set since then. Lots of strap testing in the back yard, but no hunting. :disappointed:

What a process I just witnessed on this thread. Innovation in action. That excites me , and it lets me know I'm in the right spot to learn and grow along with yall. We all have our different ways of doin stuff, and our set ups are our own. I think it's those differences, and having a place to voice our ideas in a safe and respectful forum that allows for such creative growth. I feel like their is no problem that can't be solved on here. We have thoughtfulness. We have talent. We have diversity. We have respect for one and other. And we are driven by the same passion. I am new on this site, but I am excited, and I'm grateful to be in such company. Thanks to all who participate on this site.

I've learned a few things through this forum.. Loyalty to each other and not afraid to support someone else regardless of the cost..

IMO, I believe it is a hefty price for a nylon strap. But, I don't mind supporting a brother who is trying to bring a quality product to meet a need, which is why I bought one to try it out. I don't believe it's better easier than the strap that comes with the predator originally due to the way I use it but, again, I don't mind supporting someone else's adventures.

You're not buying a nylon strap. You're paying @ckossuth to not hunt and sew for you instead. And for his time validating and testing that this is a safe and durable option. The primary value is not in the materials.

ok, I tried the one wrap around the post thing tonight as I was between loops. Once around the post and I was right on a loop. COOL!
until I had to take it off. Damn! That baby synched down tight! I thought I was going to have to come back in the morning with some tools and take off the versa button. It took a while but I finally got it to loosen up enough to slip the loop over and off. Whew! You might not want to try that one, or wrap it in such a way that it doesn't tighten the strap over itself.

:tearsofjoy:Don't have a versa strap but it works good with my similar daisy chain.

Actually this was with my daisy chain 7/64 Amsteel but I figured fair warning was in order.

I went under the versa button and around then hooked the loop. All the slack in the loop was taken out and all the rope around the post was tight and it was a bugger to get any slack back in it.

I was wondering how you could have been fighting a Versa Strap so much. Makes sense now. I bet that Amsteel was a bear once it cinched down!
