Is there a reason not to get the lite for the predator?

I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Both work fine but I prefer the 3/4" Versa Strap. My thought is the extra width gives a little more surface area to bite against the tree and it's less likely to have extra stretch that the Versa Lite could have when used on a platform. With the Lites being used on sticks, you're just stepping on the stick and moving on. There is never any sustained pressure on them. With the platform, you are standing on it for hours at a time with sustained weight. The extra 1000 pounds of rated strength on the 3/4" doesn't hurt either.

FYI.. The Versa Straps and Versa Lites will now have the adjustment loops running throughout the entire length of the strap! It’s a little more work on my end but it will give you guys more options on what you can use the strap for.

Can you explain the adjustment loops? Are you still planning on making a video for the Versa Straps?

I'm still planning on a video. My free time has been zero lately. I added the extra loops to carry throughout because it just made sense. Myself and other guys kept coming up with all kinds of uses for this thing, and having the extra loops just allows even more possible applications. @Squirrels and I have come up with at least three different aider configurations so far. One of them is a two step aider if you're so inclined. This is accomplished with the addition of one carabiner.

I think the coolest thing is that one Versa Lite goes from being the strap that holds my sticks together (@Squirrels again), to a one step moveable aider looped over the top step, to my gear/bow hanger once in the tree. It's awesome and easy! And I just eliminated two extra pieces of gear I no longer need!

Remember, you can girth hitch this thing to itself in any loop. That takes the applications to a whole new level.

A lot more Versa Straps went out today! For those who are interested, I'll be doing a demo on the Versa Straps and all of their uses at Saddlepalooza.
You are going to need some extra battery to shoot that demo video. If you cover all the uses discovered so far we may get more of your face than we need at one time......:tearsofjoy:

I just had my first hunt yesterday with versa lites on my 3 hawk heliums ( with versa button) and the original predatail on my predator. I love these straps! It is so nice to not worry about buckles making noise and losing the weight. It is also much easier wrapping the straps up on the heliums without the cam buckle.

One thing I did that helped me out, especially with the predator, was really push the post down hard before camming over to take as much slack out of the versa strap. Thanks @ckossuth !

Do y'all find the strap gets your predator as tight at the original strap? I am having issue getting it to cam over well on hard thin barked trees. I even stood on it, then cammed it over yesterday in a pecan tree and the teeth on the predator just slid on the bark instead of locking in. I shot a hog on my weak side... Luckily I was able to just stand up on the predator and spin around because I couldn't put any side pressure on it.

I can’t offer any input on that. The only type of tree we have that is like that is slick bark hickory. And you don’t want to put any kind of a platform/treestand in one of those. The bark is big sheets and is hard as a rock.

I think you need to stretch out your strap when it’s new and that helps. I’ve only used mine once so far with the predator platform and it was in a telephone pole. It didn’t bite at first like on some barked trees but I actually got it to bite to where it was too tight to cam over and had to loosen it a bit to cam it over. It just took a minute to get the right amount of slack, not unlike when using the buckle strap that comes with the predator.

Is the predatail still an option or did the versa strap replace that? I'm just not sure which one to order for my predator? I know I'll probably order the versa lite for my climbing sticks.

I think I’m going back to the strap that came with the predator. I was almost exactly between loops tonight and the strap was lose enough that I couldn’t get it right and when I tried to lift the platform and let it slide down the strap kept slipping down. It took me a while and I worked up a sweat. I finally got it right but I wasn’t a happy camper.
I did find another use for the strap however, in combination with my lineman’s belt, it made a great drag rope.

It’s just a matter of technique if you’re faced with a tree that falls in between loops. You can try a couple of different things here. First, try rotating the predator at an angle to allow the post to get closer to the tree so that you can slip the shorter loop onto it. Then straighten the post, push it down, and Cam it over. Second, and the easiest in my opinion, is to simply keep tension on the strap while you’re fishing the larger the loop over the button. Just maintain tension while you’re pushing the post down until the standoff teeth make contact with the tree, continue pushing the post down and cam it over.

Yeah, I eventually got the tighter loop on and then it cammed over.
I didn’t think to rotate the platform. Dah. Good idea.

I still think it’s easier to use the buckle. I find I have to have the platform almost folded all the way when attaching the strap and that makes it difficult to reach my big hands in there to slip the loop over the platform button. I’m going to try both ways on some trees when season ends this weekend.

New Member on here and super jacked about placing my order for the Versa straps. These things look awesome.

Now just waiting for the Tethrd folks to answer my email question so I can place my order for my Mantis and Predator platform. This system is gonna be awesome!
