Anyone from VA have any experience hunting either Fairystone Farms WMA or White Oak Mountain WMA?

I've rode through there. A lot of good looking area. But the area is too far from me to scout and hunt efficiently. I have too many areas closer to home to give this area attention. If you are within reach, it's worth the effort.

Thanks, I'm up in Amherst and they are quite a ride to reach.

I hunt white oak a handful of times a year. My mom-in-law lives in Danville. What do you want to know? It gets hit hard and it is one of the few WMA's that allows running deer dogs, not happy about that.

It looked like and interesting area with all the edge but all the roads was a concern. You answered my question. Thanks

There are some good deer in there. I mainly only hunt either sex days, I am meat hunting. I do go the Friday (buck only day) after Thanksgiving. Shot a large 8 the Friday after Thanksgiving and I bigger doe the next day. You have to find your spot. The deer are there.

Hunted Fairystone last year using boat to get to hard to reach places. Ended the week with nice doe but did not find the bucks. Scouted it some more this spring but did not find good sign. Been hunting the Blue Ridge but looking for different opportunities.

Really? Surprised they allow dogs that far west. Thought that was just a low country/beach thing.
