What are Pros and cons Mission Platform

They're both (from what I hear) fine platforms that grip and set up on the tree well. Which you prefer (or prefer on a given hunt) depends on your hunting style, whether you sit/lean/stand, what else you're hauling, etc. (And you might hunt different platforms differently)

Size is probably the biggest con but is also a big pro. Granted I only have limited experience with saddle platforms. But standing on a tiny platform for hours isn't for me. I'll probably add the C.A.Y.S pack to my Christmas list. You can get a pretty nice Trophyline discount if you're military or a first responder.

Man. Check out the X2 before you buy that pack. I put a tree pad and the Mission in my X2 and it’s PERFECT.

Ive used my Gen 1 Predator in its 3rd season now. Thought I wanted a bit bigger so tried the mission. It's a solid, we'll built platform. After using the predator for so long I found myself only standing on half of the mission. Haha. It was definitely easy to cam over and felt rock solid on a tree. I ended up selling it and just keep using my predator. 6lbs and horrible to pack made it pretty easy for me to catch and release. I can definitely see why do many people like it though.

One of the main attractions to the mission for me is how the Novix Mini sticks pair with it. I don't think I'd mind the weight or bulk of the platform if I pack the sticks that way and attach backpack straps to keep the load close to my body (I could see just using a fanny pack for my other stuff).

The question is that bump/knob on the bottom. That it not gonna work as I envision the setup. What is the latest intel on dealing with that from active users? Any chance Trophyline is re-doing the design soon to eliminate that?

With the new saddle coming out I think Trophyline could have a grand slam of a saddle package...but resolving that bump is critical to the saddle not just being a solo homerun.

The stock straps are junk and yes that hump is right in the middle of your back. Some people are putting foam pads over or something similar. The sticks stack in the grooves well. I think most people are still going to end up using a pack with it. I feel like the weight is distributed weird when stacking the sticks in the grooves. I think they need some type of minimalist pack like the Predator pack. The CAYS pack is pretty big from my understanding. I'd just like a small pack to pair with the Mission and mini sticks that has a few pockets for essentials.

This is what I do when I wanna run just a Fanny pack and back pack the mission.

I don’t like to wear in knee pads and I am not carrying my cays pack and this addresses the hump. Get to the tree, put on knee pads, and climb.

I think the pack is a deal breaker given the weight of the platform. 5+ lbs, 11+ lbs with the Minis attached is too much weight too far from your body when attached to a pack.

That's why I'm thinking one of those waist packs with shoulder straps. Bag rides below the Mission, keeping the heavy stuff tight to your body. Foam pad could work. Just found a video on it.

I was honestly not very impressed with the original re-launch of Trophyline, but this new saddle and the Mission have my wheels turning (I already sprung for the Novix sticks cause I'm a stick guy).

I think you had posted this before but I hadn't actually gotten around to trying it. It definitely helps keep the hump from digging into your back. Fanny pack is a good option. May keep an eye on Badlands and see if the Monster goes back on sale for Black Friday. It was on sale for $100.

Pro: price vs size. I see used ones selling more than new. I think people assume its a deal like I did till I went to their website. Military/law enforcement price is even cheaper.

I got the novix sticks for my mission a few days ago. They work awesome together.

If you strap it to the outside of your pack. The bump on the bottom is a non issue. I always carry a pack of everything I need anyway so the bunk doesn’t bother me at all.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I'm overplaying it, but that just seems like a lot of weight way away from your body (when strapped to a pack). I'm no backpacking expert but it just seems like you'll feel the weight more out there.

I do pretty much as you’re suggesting.

I put the platform on my back with LWCG straps and carry my extra stuff in my Badlands Monster Fanny Pack.

Works great and i really dont notice that hump as some of the weight of the platform sits on top of the Monster Fanny pack so it feels MUCH lighter than it is. I can walk miles with this system no problem.

Nice. So do you have double shoulder straps? Meaning the Badlands for the fanny, and the LWCG for the platform?

I was imagining that some of the platform weight could ride ok n the fanny, so it's cool to hear that confirmed.

I'm trying to figure out a way to use the fanny's shoulder straps to attach the platform, but maybe double straps is no big deal.

I use it with a Badlands Monster and highly recommend it!

With that set up you get the added bonus that the platform rests slightly on top of the fanny pack so it feels much lighter on your shoulders than the 5.6 lbs mine weighed in at.

Yeah, i put the straps on for the Monster fanny and then the LWCG straps over those for the Platform. It might seem like it would be cumbersome but i hardly know they’re there.

And yes, the platform most definitely rests on top of the fanny so the fanny ends up taking up some of the weight.

With all of the weight being distributed between the Shoulder straps on the platform, the shoulder straps on the fanny pack, and then the fanny back transferring some to your hips it really feels pretty light and comfortable.

I did try the platform attached to a pack like shown above and it felt much heavier after a couple miles due to ref weight being so far away from my body.

I think the fanny pack is the way to go.

Exactly as I was imagining, but always preferable to get first hand confirmation. Appreciate it.

Think this setup is in my future. Only box it doesn't check is a place for my bow when biking in. So many nuances to account for in this hobby.

You’re welcome. Yeah you might be right. I went to this after packing 8 WE steps inside that same pack then also with the mission on the outside like in the pics. So it wasn’t a huge difference to put the sticks on the platform weight wise. In fact it’s less weight now than it was carrying the steps. Also, the pack has a waist belt and check strap so that helps a lot. But overall it’s not nearly as bad as you would think. I don’t think anyway.
