You can actually make this platform weigh nothing if you loose 5 pounds haha
Size is probably the biggest con but is also a big pro. Granted I only have limited experience with saddle platforms. But standing on a tiny platform for hours isn't for me. I'll probably add the C.A.Y.S pack to my Christmas list. You can get a pretty nice Trophyline discount if you're military or a first responder.
It's easier to complain about the platform weight. You can actually make this platform weigh nothing if you loose 5 pounds haha
One of the main attractions to the mission for me is how the Novix Mini sticks pair with it. I don't think I'd mind the weight or bulk of the platform if I pack the sticks that way and attach backpack straps to keep the load close to my body (I could see just using a fanny pack for my other stuff).
The question is that bump/knob on the bottom. That it not gonna work as I envision the setup. What is the latest intel on dealing with that from active users? Any chance Trophyline is re-doing the design soon to eliminate that?
With the new saddle coming out I think Trophyline could have a grand slam of a saddle package...but resolving that bump is critical to the saddle not just being a solo homerun.

I think the pack is a deal breaker given the weight of the platform. 5+ lbs, 11+ lbs with the Minis attached is too much weight too far from your body when attached to a pack. The stock straps are junk and yes that hump is right in the middle of your back. Some people are putting foam pads over or something similar. The sticks stack in the grooves well. I think most people are still going to end up using a pack with it. I feel like the weight is distributed weird when stacking the sticks in the grooves. I think they need some type of minimalist pack like the Predator pack. The CAYS pack is pretty big from my understanding. I'd just like a small pack to pair with the Mission and mini sticks that has a few pockets for essentials.
This is what I do when I wanna run just a Fanny pack and back pack the mission.
I don’t like to wear in knee pads and I am not carrying my cays pack and this addresses the hump. Get to the tree, put on knee pads, and climb.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I'm overplaying it, but that just seems like a lot of weight way away from your body (when strapped to a pack). I'm no backpacking expert but it just seems like you'll feel the weight more out there. If you strap it to the outside of your pack. The bump on the bottom is a non issue.

That's why I'm thinking one of those waist packs with shoulder straps. Bag rides below the Mission, keeping the heavy stuff tight to your body. Foam pad could work. Just found a video on it.
I was honestly not very impressed with the original re-launch of Trophyline, but this new saddle and the Mission have my wheels turning (I already sprung for the Novix sticks cause I'm a stick guy).
Nice. So do you have double shoulder straps? Meaning the Badlands for the fanny, and the LWCG for the platform?I do pretty much as you’re suggesting.
I put the platform on my back with LWCG straps and carry my extra stuff in my Badlands Monster Fanny Pack.
Works great and i really dont notice that hump as some of the weight of the platform sits on top of the Monster Fanny pack so it feels MUCH lighter than it is. I can walk miles with this system no problem.
I think you had posted this before but I hadn't actually gotten around to trying it. It definitely helps keep the hump from digging into your back. Fanny pack is a good option. May keep an eye on Badlands and see if the Monster goes back on sale for Black Friday. It was on sale for $100.

I was imagining that some of the platform weight could ride ok n the fanny, so it's cool to hear that confirmed.
I'm trying to figure out a way to use the fanny's shoulder straps to attach the platform, but maybe double straps is no big deal.
Exactly as I was imagining, but always preferable to get first hand confirmation. Appreciate it.Yeah, i put the straps on for the Monster fanny and then the LWCG straps over those for the Platform. It might seem like it would be cumbersome but i hardly know they’re there.
And yes, the platform most definitely rests on top of the fanny so the fanny ends up taking up some of the weight.
With all of the weight being distributed between the Shoulder straps on the platform, the shoulder straps on the fanny pack, and then the fanny back transferring some to your hips it really feels pretty light and comfortable.
I did try the platform attached to a pack like shown above and it felt much heavier after a couple miles due to ref weight being so far away from my body.
I think the fanny pack is the way to go.
